Literally the only consultants he'll get are the d-list, shady ones that specifically target losers to drain them dry. In Wu's case, it'll be money flowing from a dumb huckster to a smart huckster.

This right here could not more clearly state "I take local politics insanely seriously" any more, even if he had literally typed out the sentence "I take local politics insanely seriously"

When you list your elementary, middle, and high school to prove they were all in the same town (AND that you're 5th generation), you are either running for something local or working for someone who's running for something local, and really god damn serious about it.

It looks like the local machine was holding its powder to see what Brianna was all about, and now that they've seen she's a grasping, ugly joke, they're ready to kneecap the fuck out of her. Good.

He's right to be pissed off. Reporters had to have known Wu was running a scam after they tailed her on the campaign trail, yet they only made the most veiled references to what they knew.

I really hope this perception spreads amongst MA residents. If Wu is really serious about running again, interesting things might happen.

Nah, the good ones are ironically fairly reasonably priced IF you're a good candidate. Not cheap, but not exorbitant. The idea is that if you only work for winning candidates, you'll have a campaign on retainer for potentially decades. Your winning record also increases and you can attract more good candidates in the future. The cycle builds on itself.

The economics of campaigning are really distorted from what we think of as normal. There are plenty of young and hungry Warrens out there if you want to do it cheap, but you get what you pay for. Meanwhile, the really expensive consultants are better than the cheap ones but worse than the more moderately priced, mainstream consultants. The expensive consultants will actually work for candidates that the competent ones turn down, but they'll charge you a large amount for the privilege since you probably won't bring them repeat business.

It's a weird business.

The “journalists” (if you want to call them that) who wrote positively about Brianna Wu aka John Flynt are people who follow him on twitter and support him. They’re complicit in the grift because they believe anyone who’s critical of Brianna/John must be a gamergate alt-right Nazi.

It makes perfect sense local politicians and community activists would be pissed that this fake candidate/woman would steal the spotlight and $170k then do nothing with either except promote themselves. That’s not caring about your community how or you win.

It was been said but if John cared about his community and politics he’d start local and run for city council first and work his way up. However, since he’s a narcissist hes not capable of starting at the bottom. I honestly think he was going to run for president in 2020 had he managed to magically beat Lynch.

It doesn't help that John is the definition of a carpetbagger. It's not as bad as some of the stunts we've seen where some ambitious pol sets up shop in a state they've never lived in to get elected to the Senate as a stepping stone (ahem, *Hillary*), but finding a new home in the district after announcing the candidacy stinks to high heaven.
