Nothing screams "as your congressional candidate who cares for our shared environment" than needlessly squirting CO2 into the atmosphere while revving your 4ltr engine.
Nothing screams "natural woman" more than behaving like a middle-aged man going through a mid-life crisis.

I found a sample ballot for Wu's election. I guess they alphabetise their ballot layout because Wu is dead last. Also, Voehl has exercised his right to be identified as a veteran on the ballot. Seems like ideal conditions for Wu to pick up less votes than Voehl. I'm really looking forward to the salt storm when a MAN who barely campaigned beats Wu at the polls. Don't they know who she is?

if Voters did know things about who like what she has done and who she is, people wouldn't vote for her period. Might make her a excellent joke candidate instead of just a nobody one as of voting

So your saying that not campaigning was a smart move for Wu and it could net him more votes than if he had tried to get people to vote for him?

yeah. People like Wu don't benefit from being known well in general outside of whatever control of information they can get. The more you see or know someone, the more likely you start asking questions or trying to look up information on them and Wu's a goldmine of stuff that would be embarrassing for anyone to have known about them, the lolcow wiki bit doing a nice bit of summarizing other memorable events

What a fucking waste.

What I was asking was how you know she is doing the co2 purge kit? Was there another comment I missed?

Please type slow to me. I have autism.

Ah I get you now.

And look at the other mods. Vin Diesel was hardly pushing his charger with vibrating seats and red smoke, every mod on the list is for aesthetics until it comes to nitrous. The car isn't being modified with performance in mind, it's to replicate some fantasy car.

And I can imagine dropping a nos kit straight into a mainly stock car is only going to end up badly. If it doesn't end up in a crash one of the stock parts are going to blow up, seeing as you're pushing them way past the limits of their intended use. I found a brilliant write-up of nitrous systems and what can go wrong if you botch it here: https://www.go-fast.org/z28/new_to_nitrous.html

Legalities shouldn't be too much of an issue at all. It's only illegal if it's ready for use. You can get around this by wiring in an arming switch.

As I say if Wu is just modifying the car for aesthetic reasons and not performance reasons, I can bet it's just going to be a co2 purge kit. You can get all the aesthetic qualities of a real nos kit without having to swap out half the parts and hours of tuning.

But then I could be giving Wu too much credit. It probably won't even get to the "nitrous oxide" phase and if it does and it is real nos, we could be in for some more pages of fun.

What? It would cost more to convert an existing car than to build a brand new one. Besides which, it's not like cars are exactly long lived. It was less than 20 years from the time when we banned new cars from requiring lead enriched fuel to the time when the only cars still on the road that needed leaded petrol were collectors items in the hands of hobbyists.

When the technology is ready, I'm sure the manufacture of new internal combustion cars will be banned and the switchover will be as rapid. It's just not ready at the moment.

I'd bet anything that John thinks that because he doesn't see the energy being generated upstream (by coal, propane, or nuclear power plants) he thinks that electric cars are magically -- and exponentially -- cleaner. And that's without even considering the horrendous environmental impact caused by the manufacture and recycling of batteries.

Why do you hate the people in Mexico who live and work in the toxic wasteland that are the maquiladoras where batteries are manufactured, John?

Pretty sure he hasn't given any thought either about how much the grid and energy production would have to be built up in order to charge all those cars were it to be legislated that "all cars must be electric by 2024" or somesuch. Like I said, magical thinking; there is no free lunch when it comes to energy.

Not only that, but Wu is hillariously short sighted - cars aren't the ONLY things that run off internal combustion motors. Diesel Locomotives, Jet planes (which for all they tout about how they're so much more environmentally friendly...they still burn a shitload of fuel every single time they take off), motorcycles, etc. ALL need to be converted over in Wu's short sighted and incomprehensible lack of understanding how such things work.

And then there's the entire nature of the support systems for internal combustion - hybrids pretty much only managed to integrate into the car fleet of humanity because they still burn fuel. Pure electric cars are a problem because you need specially designed locations to support charging - hell, Walt Disney World apparently only has less than a dozen of these car charging parking spots. And in Grand Tour S2E1, it's revealed that Hammond only takes Jeremy and James to locations around the city of Lucerne, Switzerland, because that city is literally the only one that has a compatible charge port for his all-electric supercar (and as a side note, said all-electric supercar ends up wrecked due to overshooting a turn over a cliff and while Hammond survives the crash with no injuries somehow, the damaged car's battery cells end up catching fire and damaging OTHER cells, triggering a self-sustaining chain reaction of spontaneous combustion that lasted for five straight days - I mention this because Wu is too dumb to understand how this would apply to a situation where ALL cars were purely battery powered and had a crash, meaning far more car fires that can't be extinguished on major roads).

We have all-electric trains like Subways and in other countries the bullet trains, but the support network for that is restricted to dedicated networks AND for the latter stuff the adherence to maintenance precision is within decimal placements Wu has never even considered to exist. In America, there are GARGANTUAN stretches of nothing where pure electrical systems would be a complete liability in comparison to tried and true strength of internal combustion.

And THEN the greatest irony of all? Wu fucking lives in the northeast, where winters are cold, brutal, and difficult. This affects any kind of machine, of course, and is notably something that all-electric vehicles have particular difficulty with in terms of attaining optimal functionality. Internal combustion engines are affected as well BUT because of the very nature of internal combusion, they heat themselves up and can counter the cold, resulting in merely longer start-up times. All-electric cars don't have the luxury of a continual process of miniature heat explosions inside their motors, meaning they won't perform nearly as well as they do under normal weather conditions. Of course, Wu doesn't know this because you know what Wu never even entertains the thought of buying? A hybrid or all-electric car. Even going so far as to somehow convert one of the Porches into an electric car would be something that would support another hollow promise by future congress(wo)man Wu, given how much money is being spent on converting one into some knockoff Bond car from a series nobody's heard of - or simply driving a Tesla period. But this is Wu, who has never practiced what they preach.

@Null are there any stats on increase in traffic to Johns wiki over the course of the scampaign?

Oh great, John's waded into a portion of policy I'm curious about with his usual adeptness at getting the best possible answer as his stated goal for the entire country!

Why doesn't he just go for the big sweep across the electoral board by endorsing hemp bio-diesel as the answer he's reaching for instead? Maybe 2020 needs something still in the bag to grab at the next time around...

Wu is backpeddling on being a communist.

I said it wasn't working but that doesn't mean I don't think capatalism works! Can't you morons understand the difference????

"It's the mindset of a software engineer."

Yes, but not a good software engineer, if Revolution 60 is anything to go by. Are you implying that you could do for health care what you did for game development?

I would vote for Wu in an instant if she could sucker feminists into accepting $1 wages to work at the hospital. Imagine the cuts to health care costs!

Nothing screams "natural woman" more than behaving like a middle-aged man going through a mid-life crisis.

The brand new Porsche is a valid midlife crisis car. Actually fixing up a true classic car like a 60s Aston Martin or a MG would maybe be a classy midlife crisis approach.

Buying an old beater and tricking it out with fake Bond gadgets is pretty pathetic though. When I was in the 16 y/o age range and my friends and I got ahold of our first shitty hand me down cars, we did the nerdy spy shit too. One guy was into cop gear and had a beat up old caprice classic with a police scanner and a spotlight. I had a tail light cutoff switch and a crazy air horn and some other bullshit switches I set up. One guy had some of those model rockets that shot out of a tube under his light pick-up truck which was as impressive as it was idiotic.

The point being: we did this, and thought it was cool when we were litterally still children. We quickly grew out of it when we had to start paying for things like car repairs and eventually payments for newer cars out of our own pockets — something John doesn’t understand.

I have a sneaking suspicion that the end result of blowing another few thousand bucks of Frank's money will end up not with a sexy spymobile, but something more like the Space Docker from GTAV:

SpaceDocker-GTAV-front.png

Which is to say: hours of time wasted chasing around bits of junk all over the map only to end up with a decrepit, badly painted eyesore with a couple of garbage cans pasted to the sides.

Remind me again, what is Wu's insane and stupid view of Nuclear Power? Because without Nuclear Power Plants Electric Cars are far far greater polluters and greenhouse has producers than moderately efficient well refined modern gas engine cars.
