Boy you could probably do an entire course on the psychology of morality based on this tweet alone.

Powerful, John, so powerful. Yes, moral colouring is indeed contagious, and so the best way to create a civil society is to ensure that tribal lines are drawn as thickly as possible and should never be crossed. No effort should be made to have dialogue with anyone whose moral ideology differs even vaguely from yours - no sense in risking the contamination of the pure moral order, right? This will have no consequences whatsoever and certainly was not the exact same justification that bigots of the past and present use to deny service or association to people whom they deem as normative moral threats. But never mind about that, can you tell us more about what it was like working for segregationist Trent Lott?

LOL This fucking nigga.
No you fucking mentally ill self-multilating hack, people did not kick the KKK out of restaurants. Hitler & Hirohito are who ended the "2nd wave" KKK.
Ok, quick background on the KKK:
The KKK was founded to kick a white man out of Tennessee.
The KKK was initially started by Nathan Bedford Forest, who was military genius who developed what would become the foundation for mechanized infantry tactics. Several of his assaults are still studied at West Point. Anyway, the governor of Tennessee in reconstruction era was appointed, and he was by all accounts a complete shit bag. NBF and some of his friends got together to run him out of town. Which they did.
When formed the KKK was not about race, it was about pushing back against reconstruction trying to destroy the southern culture to the profit of rich folks in the North. Now, this model was exported to other areas in the south with great success, as it became a dual purpose "pushing back against the invaders, and going to hang out with the boys & away from the wife's nagging". Of course like anything good & fun, some fucking spergs had to go and ruin it, where "pushing back against reconstuction" turned into "keeping them niggers in their place with increasing violence".
Nathan Bedford Forrest didn't harbor any ill will to blacks, and when it got around to him a few years later what some of the local chapters were doing, he issued an order to the KKK disband; reconstruction had largely ended (what he'd started the KKK to fight), and he didn't feel that terrorizing southern blacks was a good thing to be doing. unfortunately the KKK was very decentralized, operating in independent cells, and this order was ignored. But there was increased federal pressure to protect blacks, and with no appointed politicians to evict, the KKK went into the background for a while.
This was the "1st Klan".
Jump to the 1900's, and you have a wave of European immigration to the US. They aren't adapting, they're poor, they smell bad, and they're taking all the jobs and working for nothing because the economies in Ireland and Italy are completely fucked. So the KKK gets re-invigorated, viewed as a way to push back against these people. This is the "2nd Klan", and when they got anti-Catholic. So once again, the KKK grows on a mandate to exclude, intimidate, and push back what we would call "white people". The KKK has its biggest period of growth during this time, eventually expanding even into Canada. They had incredible power & influence on US politics.
So what happened? Three things.
First, and most importantly, WWII happened. WWII took the wind out the KKK's sails in several important ways. First, there was now an external enemy to fight - stringing up Tyrone takes a backseat to killing Nips and making sure the fucking Hun doesn't cross the Atlantic. Second, Army Units were segregated base on race, but not origin. So you've got Yankees and Yokels in the same units, fighting side by side, and both sides start realizing "You know, these people aren't all bad". Third, the army made it very hard for secret societies to continue to operate. So the effect is young men now are getting exposure to all these yankees and immigrants they were supposed to be hating and realizing they aren't all bad, while they are fighting a common enemy, and not being allowed to get re-indoctrinated. And when WWII ended and news about the Final Solution got out, suddenly being exclusionary seemed less like a good thing.
Second, corruption happened. The national leadership of the KKK was ridiculously corrupt and bad with money. The leader who over saw the tipping point of membership of the 2nd Klan was really not much focused on race and more about living the highlife collecting dues. The Klan could have rebounded after WWII, but they didn't have the resources, the leadership, and the national leadership was being put on trial for fraud. Political "allies" were looking for any excuse to get out from under the Klan leadership's thumb, even if they were pretty ideologically compatible with more of the Klan tenets.
Third, and this what Johnny boy was trying to twist to fit his point about excluding people you disagree with, was infiltration happened. Really, the Klan didn't DO much. At the height of the racial violence in the 20s, they lynched 200 people. Nation wide. Now, one lynching is
One of the ways the 2nd Klan did this was by pumping up their "Mystical Rites"; it was secret club, with all these Grand Wizards and Exalted Cyclopses. No one knew what this stuff meant! It was exciting and mysterious, you were part of an exclusive club when you were in the Klan. You could talk about stuff with members and the "normies" wouldn't know.
This got unraveled when a journalist infiltrated the Georgia Klan, and started publishing all their secrets. All the Wizard and Cyclops business was pretty lame when everyone knew about it. But more importantly, the journalist leaked the meeting notes to the guy who ran the Superman radio show. This was a brilliant move, because what kid doesn't want to start their own secret club? And the superman radio show gave these kids a secret club starter kit, using all the Klan code words and methodologies. So now when the Klan tries to recruit new members, and you show them the secret handshake, the recruit just looks at you and goes "You mean the shit my kid is doing when he plays with his friends?".
In conclusion, despite the fact he even has 1945 as the end date, he somehow fails to draw conclusions between that and other things that happened in 1945. Like most leftists, he is reaching for anything to justify his exclusion and dehumanization of the opposition, while screaming oppression if anything happens in the other direction. I guess not that I should expect much from a man who cut off his dick so he can cosplay as Gollum in a Black Dress.
