I hope you're not implying that Brianna Wu, who is running for congress in Massachusett's 8th District (MA-8 ) harassed transgender game developer Chloe Segal to suicide in 2018. Because that would be completely irresponsible to imply that Brianna Wu, MA-8 congressional candidate, harassed transgender game developer Chloe Segal to suicide in 2018. Please do not start these kinds of rumors about MA-8 congressional candidate Brianna Wu harassing transgender game developer Chloe Segal to suicide in 2018.

§ 230 of the CDA also protects reporting what other people said on the Internet and is probably more applicable here. It has been interpreted absurdly broadly, to the point I think it's inevitable at some point it will get exceptions carved out (other than the FOSTA one that has already happened), but it is simply a fact to say that Chloe sent all these messages to John accusing him of victimizing her and repeatedly threatening to murder him:

It's pretty obvious these are the product of mental illness, so IMC is being pretty much a jackass here, but odds are he's legally protected so long as he doesn't accompany these messages with his own endorsement of the "facts" contained therein.

The only thing more irresponsible than that would be to imply that Brianna Wu hates transgendered people. I do not myself believe that Brianna Wu hates transgendered people; indeed, I have never seen any evidence that Brianna Wu hates transgendered people. But if somehow the word did spread that Brianna Wu hates transgendered people, it would represent a serious slur on her reputation.

Let's make sure nobody seriously thinks Brianna Wu hates transgendered people.

If Flynt/Wu was just Joe Citizen, I'd agree that this is a dick move on Ian's part. But John is a notorious nut case who's running for Congress, and he has accused whole classes of other people of murdering transgender people who committed suicide.

If John was running in my Congressional district, the local newspaper would report Chloe's statements. It would also contact John for comment and report that he responded to Chloe's statements by threatening to sue if the paper published the facts.

John is lucky that Chloe didn't commit suicide in Boston.

And at the time, Wu had every legal, moral, and ethical grounds upon which to say all that.

The fact Sagal threatened them with death over not giving them a handout further invalidates any reason Wu has to acknowledge Sagal's existence, and Sagal's death is NOT on his conscience.

I won;t deny watching John squirm is hilarious, but if I had to defend Wu in court, the above would be my exact position on the matter, even though I still consider Brianna Wu/John Flynt to be a shithead otherwise.

There's a part of me that thinks Chloe said what she said specifically to stop Wu from doing what he does best and trying to spin any and all tragedies as his personal burden. After all, you can't call someone your personal friend when they specifically blame you for their suicide.

I really figured Wu was actually using her own equipment this time since it was just her and Frank at a table talking. If that's the case, then Wu spent thousands and thousands of dollars at the beginning of her campaign for camera equipment that has, at best, been used to record 2 seconds of Wu saying "I'm Brianna Wu and I approve this message."

And why are you mixing a bmpcc with a canon? Your sensors are going to be totally different. Oh man and there is NO reason for the matte box except to make it look like you're making a real honest commercial.
