You know, I realize John is just roleplaying here, but this truly is an astonishing statement, seeing as he's the ultimate beneficiary of the American economic system.
- His husband makes a princely sum as a minor functionary in the pharmaceutical industry - possible precisely because of the high-risk, high-reward way that industry is structured under the American system.
- That money is taxed less than in any other developed nation, leaving more of it for vanity projects like Giant Spacekat.
- Forming a business is barely regulated - it was cheap and easy for the Wus to form "Chessboard LLC" as a completely opaque Delaware corporation and gain all the benefits of incorporation with few of the responsibilities.
- The government stays almost completely out of the employer-employee relationship, allowing GSK to hire and fire Craigslist coders at-will on whatever arbitrary terms they can negotiate.

America handed John every advantage when it comes to running his business. What more could be possibly want in his "fight for the common man"? Does he want Canadian-style "cultural grants"? Give me a break.

Story was that John was in traffic, 2 lanes merged into one due to roadworks, and he got rear-ended by a cis white male attempting to overtake.

The story never made sense anyway, but its always nice to see John breaking continuity with his lies.
 
If you look at the twitter thread, the response is in regards to a Lamborghini that split in half when it hit a phone pole, so it’s not quite the ‘gotcha’ that it appears.

When I saw the title of the book, I thought it would be something related to dinosaurs in the Congress that don't keep up with the latest cyber security threats. Alas, it was this weird Chinaman again pretending he is still in elementary school.

So.... first of all, both the USA government itself in various departments and private companies do regular "penetration testing" ( and for those tech inept, no that is not a follow-up test to Bribri's procedure. It's where you allow "hackers" onsite to try to crack your systems, and give you a report of how they got in and what they could access so you can fix it ).

NIST itself keeps a national vulnerability database (which is used worldwide) and tracks issues in various pieces of software, assigns them a severity threshold, etc. Anyone who has done any systems administation is aware of "patching the criticals" and such. There are all kinds of guidelines that go on and on about how many days you can have unpatched X, etc. etc. I don't need to go into this much more for the techy people, but it's complete and utter bullshit and yet again shows how unaware Brianna is.

EDIT/ADDENDUM: You may have seen vulnerabilities referred to as "CVE YYYY-####" where YYYY is the year the vulnerability was discovered and the # is, for explanations sake, an incrementing integer id. NIST ( National Institutes of Science and Technology, a US government department ) issues and maintains these in the NVD, or "National Vulnerability Database." Here is an example of one from today in Oracle (database) software.

What strikes me as even more horrid is the part where it goes something like, "If Brianna is elected to congress, she will make this all legal and fix everything!" Again, the mentality that she is running for Benevolant Dictator for Life, whereas the reality is she is completely unaware of how government works, let alone cyber security.

EDIT: It struck me after the post, probably because my brain couldn't immediately process the ineptitude, of how silly her book analogy is. She's not even aware of the 1st ammendment! Even back in the day when "strong encryption" was illegal to export ( it was seen in the same category as exporting weapons ), PGP found a "loophole" and published the code for encryption as a book. You would literally tear off the binding and feed it into a punchcard reader or type it in, depending on the system you were using. It worked because freedom of the press, books, are protected by the highest law of the land. So whilst it was still illegal to use the encryption in export situations (not anymore), it was not and never was and never can be illegal to perform research.

Yet more evidence towards the theory that the entire campaign is a sham to reverse the negative trend in BriBri's patreon bux since gubbergoot. Many of these ( I want to say "most" but I haven't actually dug down and done the research myself at this level, and unlike Brianna I don't make affirmative claims on points wherein I am not well-informed)

Or, maybe it's more evidence that Frankanna doesn't understand how government works, nor is aware whom he is trying to be elected to represent.

Or, maybe it's delusion and Bru thinks that locals care about it because he recently moved here and he cares about it. You know, because actually asking any of the locals what they care about and how they would like to be represented on the issues would require leaving the house.

Or, maybe it's forward-thinking genius because BriBri read a buzzfeed atricle, "Top 10 ways AI is going to take yer jerb" about how AI is going to replace all the manufacturing / blue collar jobs in the area, so he wants to bring tech to MA District 8 to counter the unemployment. This is the least likely I think because,
  • A.) it requires forethought
  • B.) it means Brianna would have to care about the local district (we already know Brianna thinks she is running for dictator and doesn't understand federal vs state)
  • C.) it hinges on the fact that AI is actually going to take local jobs and that folks will magically have the training/desire to switch fields at the drop of a hat. Actually, forget this point. Bribri has no formal training or experience and she was able to become a "game developer" thanks to rich parents. Probably thinks it's that easy for everyone else, "Well, why didn't you just take a $400K loan from your parents?
As things get more ridiculous it's actually getting harder to pinpoint exactly which direction the delusion train is running at any given point...

This is actually what makes Bri-wu ( prononunced like "pee-yew", i.e. a bad smell ) my favourite lolcow. The levels of crazy/dumb/false-entitlement/disconnect are so diverse with her, it's always an exciting run. I mean fuck, it's like every day is a contest John plays with himself (ew) to try to out-tard the previous day. And John isn't even a "High-Functioning Autist!" Sorry Sonichu fans...

I think it's almost entirely #2 and #3. She doesn't understand how government works, that's clear. Did you see earlier in this thread where she had the stunning revelation that people vote for rep based on local issues? She was shocked that a Representative to Congress is supposed to... represent their district. And she cares about tech and so she thinks that everyone cares about tech. She thinks that tech is the only industry that matters, and is completely clueless that it doesn't matter at all in this district. This is a district of old, conservative (for Massachusetts), white people who mostly work in health care and education and labor jobs. The rich people of this district are lawyers or in finance. Tech is not even on the radar for people here and she sounds weird and out of touch every time she talks about it.
