Bri's consistent and demonstrated willingness to openly belittle her constituents is, to my thinking, the single largest thing that disqualifies her for holding public office, because it really does display the arrogance and open contempt she holds for people she views as beneath her.
Which is rather ironic, given her accusations that Lynch is an ignorant elitist.
A fucking alderman could've told her how to handle this. You engage with nothing but compassion, trying to understand the other person's view, really show them that you care about representing them. You gently prod them to consider your views, but never insist, and you fucking listen to them, because these are the people who's interests you're trying to represent and appeal to.
She is the living embodiment of the phrase "limousine liberal", an out of touch, elitist, privileged little misanthrope who's never done a real day of work in her life and has less than no respect for those who do.
It's not just that she's utterly unqualified as a public servant. It's that she possesses not a single natural instinct that would help her in it. She responds to criticism with hostility, skepticism with contempt, and inquiry with open, deliberate lies. Her immediate reaction to anything she finds unpleasant is to attack it, silence it, or misconstrue it.
Throw out whatever bitterness you like about politics in the US, but here's the thing:
Even if you're going to be a deliberately crooked politician, you need to be a hell of a lot more charismatic and clever than she could ever hope to be, and even then?
The bill comes due, friends and neighbors. Everybody eventually pays, because there's no con on earth so good that it can last forever.
