Probably just the general revulsion that most people experience on meeting the Wu's. It's like walking into another world. Your brain just rebels and screams "No! Fuck No! Just Walk Away!" Wu radiates all the charm of a serial killer. And not the suave charming Jeffrey Dahmer kind. The student bodies nickname for John Walker Flynt was "Buffalo Bill" as in "It puts the lotion on its skin or else it gets the hose again". Brianna is simply John completing his Woman Suit.

I think this is true. I only met her once. Talked with her for about an hour, with other people. She starts off seeming sincere, but I got a disingenuous vibe from her soon. She didn't even live in the district, which pissed me off. Carpetbaggers can fuck off.

Worse, Wu isn't even a carpetbagger with decent intentions. If Lynch was such an utter turd anything would be better, John Flynt would still be worse by comparison because this is all about ego, not what people expect from their political representative, which is, at least on paper, to give a shit about their interests.

From what I can tell, Lynch has been willing to tell the dumber parts of his own party to piss off if the welfare of his constituents demands it, and while he may not be perfect, at he least he walks his own talk, and even if I was utterly opposed to him, at least I could respect his urge to do a good job.

I like Lynch. Most of the things people criticize him for aren't true, or I don't think are bad. I'm happy to vote for him. I signed his nomination papers today.

He was very friendly and hyper and talked a lot (much more than Brianna), but unfortunately didn't make the face. He seemed more interesting and fun to hang out with. Not that I would want to, especially after reading the link in this thread about him abusing his ex wives.

Back when this campaign first started, a number of us expected as much of Brianna. He went out and chose what he perceived to be the most "beatable" man of the list. This whole thing felt more like an opportunity to continue his female power fantasy and John loves any chance he can get to be seen as the paragon of feminism.

Completely agree that she picked Lynch because she thought he was beatable. People are always complaining about him. I've complained about him too. But that's one of the crap parts of being a politician: everyone complains. I'm sure she's surprised that he has so much support. I'm sure there are people locally who were excited when she announced her campaign, but then interest faded when it looked real.

He seemed more invested but it may have been a personality difference. She is very reserved and quiet and looks serious all the time. He is very gregarious and effusive.

It's even dumber than that. Wu used to live in Katherine Clark's district and was one of her sources when Clark tried to introduce anti-doxing and anti-harassment legislation. She apparently even tried to talk to the FBI on Wu's behalf and is, to my knowledge, one of the only people in Congress to ever mention gamergate.

When Wu announced she wanted to run for the House, she explicitly stated she wasn't going to run against Clark or any other woman. I haven't heard of Clark giving any public support to Wu's run, which has to piss Wu off that his gal-pal won't give him any support.

Nobody sitting is going to support someone running against an incumbent. And unions and other dark money supporters aren't going to unless you're very likely to win (an exception might be someplace like Emily's List, but they have better places to spend money than against Lynch, who is personally pro-life but votes with the Democrats when it comes up). Too many bridges to burn by pissing off a career politician.

That's why the whispered advice she was seeking out and getting at the beginning of her campaign was so important. If she was a better, likable person who followed suggestions she might have had a chance.

On another note, I saw my first Facebook ad for Christopher Voehl. Much better use of money than $12,000 worth of video equipment.

Fun fact: despite Civ 5 being Wu's most played game of all time, she's never won a game on normal difficulty. She's never even played Civ 6 on any difficulty except the very lowest.

Civ's AI is absolutely pathetic. On normal difficulty, you can basically do whatever you want and still win. You can build just about every single wonder, go to war at any time, do nothing and let the AI manage your cities, your only real chance of losing is to a rush by a civ with ridiculous early game units. On the difficulties lower than normal, the AI might as well not be playing.

On the higher difficulties, it's an entirely different game. The AI can start up to an entire age ahead of you on the technology tree, has insane bonuses to rate of construction and gets a steep discount on army maintenance costs. You can forget about building any wonders whatsoever, and you have to use diplomacy and espionage just to keep the AI off your back, because often if you go to war you're going to lose.

Wu's style of play simply doesn't work if you're actually playing the game, rather than Civ-themed solitaire. I don't really know how you can play a game for so many hours and never get curious about whether you're actually playing it well or badly. It's true there's a soothing routine to playing Civ, but even so you might as well be playing on "king" difficulty just to make it little bit interesting.

I don't know if Kiwis have looked at the figures of Rev60, but my utter guess is that the game would have made far less than 10% of the hundreds of thousands Frank spent on it.

But despite that spectacular failure by anyone's standards she still lords it is a leader in tech and expert on the industry.

Brianna also claims to be an investigative journalist when the only known claim to that is working for a short time on a college paper (before they took out a restraining on JWF).

So I don't know whether Brianna thinks that she's running a *serious* campaign, she's certainly done enough to get Congressional candidate on her CV, and that seems to be her main goal here (along with tech and her food paid by suckers).
