Many like Sam Brownback, that Maine Governor, and possibly Scott Walker are vastly unpopular.

Walker's not burning the house down by any means, but he's not really that unpopular these days, particularly outside of Madison (and to some extent Milwaukee). People in WI think the state's on the right track (in many ways it is, tbh). Throw in the fact that the field of Dems vying for the chance to take him on is typically fucking exceptional and I'd consider it mildly shocking at this point if he doesn't win a third term.

Roem basically ran 100% on local infrastructure while her opponent did the whole identity politics thing. This is a case of a person taking their constituents’ concerns seriously and running on that, because at the local level that’s what people give a shit about. I could write an essay on what Roem did right compared with what Wu is doing wrong but while the LGBT money undoubtedly helped, Roem is a case of what local politics are supposed to be, a person pledging to fix a community problem that a lot of people care about.
Cross-posting this comment from @The_Truth in another thread because I think it might be relevant.
So basically a Democrat outspent their opponent by 5 to 1 mostly with money that came from out of state?

I thought Democrats hated that sort of thing?

Given how the LGBTWTFKYSFAGS have been known to have more than a few skeletons in
their closets, I wonder what Roem's are? Could be that "she" is one of the sane ones, but I wouldn't want to bet money on it.

I've noticed whenever somebody like to refer to themselves as a 'clever bitch' they usually turn out to be a dumb cunt.

So will John be singing the same tune when the republicans start coming out to vote and start crushing the Dems?

I can confirm all this. It's also important to remember just good the State GOP machine is here. I would put the WI GOP up there there pretty much any other State Party organization you can think of in terms of effectiveness.

Any idea of what the essentials cost vs the non essentials

I've not got much happening at work tomorrow so I'll price it up. But from the essentials, recoding keys is going to be the most expensive essential because it requires specialist equipment and software.

Overall the most expensive is going to be recoding keys and the airplay head unit. The rest can be purchased pretty cheap providing you go to the right places.

I suspect Wu threw in the rattle cans for a spray compressor, which would explain why he had to spray panels twice.

well, shit

Didn't notice I'd said "shit" three times, but it is appropriate. It's terrible shit, and I've done door to door sales and solicitation of other kinds. While you usually operate off voter lists so you're generally knocking on the doors of registered voters of the appropriate party to sign the petition, these are not always up to date and even in your own party you can run into ridiculous amounts of hostility.

I love boastful John because he’s going to crash and burn and when he does that’s the only moment he ever understands what a complete and utter failure his life truly is.

John has no chance beating an incumbent so well liked in his district.

Those shitty services you hire don't do this. They hire crackheads and other unemployed idiots because it's such temporary and low paying work nobody with a real job would be doing it.

Yeah, it’s absolute garbage quality people. Even in areas where there are universities (and presumably young, hungry, decently presentable kids), you still only get crackheads most of the time. The only reason to use these “services” is if you have no real grassroots support and you absolutely have to use them, or if you have a ton of money and you want to have every conceivable advantage no matter how minor.

It’s absolutely horrible work. I don’t see how any rational person would do political volunteer work. It’s miserable - the only good reason to do it is if the guy is likely to win and you’re a masochist who wants a job in politics after they win. It’s all the fun of telemarketing + door-to-door sales for zero pay.

A lot of people don’t realize what they’re signing up for until their out walking the streets, which is why even the volunteers turn in signatures/likely vote scores/whatever - they just give up and half ass it.

(Sorry for the :offtopic::offtopic::offtopic: fam)
