The only expense I see that could constitute an effort to get votes is the website. And that looks to mainly just be there to get money from people. She has a "Platform" page that barely mentions a platform along with a few stock photos. The one picture of Boston she put on it is of a park that's not even in her fucking district. Her "official announcement" page has one post and hasn't been touched in 10 months. What the fuck does she do in this $1000/month office?

Oh and she paid a friend of Frank's some money to help with a video that no one in her district probably saw. She didn't buy ads or anything for it. Just made a video to brag to some people not in her district.

Oh man! Can you imagine just how Counterproductive a Campaign Meet and Greet for a Wu would be? While Massachusetts and particularly the Boston area are the Bluest of Blue states, it's not Northern California. The locals are largely working class union types. Typically Irish and Italian backgrounds. With a low tolerance for the strange and bizarre, and a very limited filter regarding calling it out when they see it. The locals when faced directly with Wu will stand up and ask "WTF is that thing?" And "Is this a joke?" And outside of the Universities (which the locals largely have a love hate relationship with. ) they have a low tolerance for the PC thought police. The local voters will happily get behind a communist. They have an extremely low tolerance for freaks and weirdos.

So, my prediction is that John will be called away from the House campaign by something more "urgent". Maybe the world will desperately need an investigative journalist to cover women's issues in this post-Weinstein era.

It's not a requirement, just generally frowned upon if you don't.

There's only a state residency requirement that Wu already meets.
 
I don't want to harp on this, I really don't know much about him, but the guy I mentioned yesterday who is like Wu but qualified published his first set of FEC accounts today.

I've never run for any political office, but his campaign seems to conform to my common sense view of how this sort of thing goes.

He paid the state Democratic committee 3750 bucks for their voter database. I guess that option isn't available to Wu since she's not endorsed by the party, but she could still procure similar information from private companies. There's some expenses for accounting and a little bit of political consultancy, payroll for his core staff members and printing for his initial stock of literature and that's about it

Notably absent: Trips to California for irrelevant conferences, sandwiches and video cameras.

It's interesting to see what a real campaign from a first time candidate looks like when compared to Wu's disaster.
 
It’s going to be great watching John lose the election to other two white men. Even if it’s obvious he doesn’t really care anymore and is trying to raise as much money as possible for his scam, I know it’s going to be a huge downer for him after running his animation studio and gaming studio both into the ground.

If you don't, and your opponent even acknowledges your existence, which Lynch may never do, the first line in their ad is going to be "Who the hell is this person who doesn't even live in the district?"

I don't know much about re-painting cars or auto body repair, and I could be off-base, but I get the impression that painting on a dusty, debris ridden, dirt lot, probably isn't going give you that even, shimmering, "day it rolled off the lot" type of look. I might be misinterpreting the photo, but I am also pretty sure when you paint a car, you want to avoid getting paint on the windows. Again, I'm not an expert so i defer to John's expertise here.
