Well he just admitted to being in North Carolina after shrieking he'd boycott the state over their tranny bathroom law.

In all fairness, Charlotte was ground zero for all that nonsense. They tried to force everyone to abide by tranny bathroom nonsense, the state legislature responded by pre-empting that and banning tranny bathroom nonsense on public property. This, being a reasonable response, was interpreted as a wholesale slaughter of the gays throughout the state and an endorsement of the KKK by the governor.

So Charlotte is probably cool with the troons.

TBH (imo, etc etc) most of the Far Cry series- especially 3, have been pretty cringey with the whole 'white savior/noble savages' tropes even if they try and handwave it by making the enemies 'mercenaries' so the mooks can be white. It gets fuzzy because it was certainly at least partially intentional to make a point but whether the plot was good enough to do it is up for debate (I vote no, especially after Vaas left the picture).

But while the series certainly has 'power fantasy' written all over it I don't think people have ever really focused their fantasies on killing "Pee Oh Cees" in the games the way Wu seems to want to fantasize about killing white fundamentalists in the next one. For all that gaming industry 'experience' I don't think Wu has yet learned why people play games.
I never played the first one but the second had a mix of playable characters from multiple ethnicities like Chinese, Haitian, and Brazilian. The main target was also white. Far Cry 3 had the white protagonist backed up by a black man both foreigners working to help the local population fight off the pirates and privateers that were killing the locals in large numbers. The pirates were a mix foreign and locals and the privateers were foreign mercs exploiting the locals for money and sport. Farcry 4 you play as a Kyrat born man that grew up in the US and fight against a Hong Kong gangster that seized power of the country in a coup with his armies being foreign mercenaries and conscripted locals. It seems that the character's race was never as important as their outsider status to me. They wanted the protagonists to be as clueless of the local customs and culture as the player is.

I'm sure Wu only touched the games enough to get a couple of talking points so she could ree about the evil white man killing all the POCs and ignore any context to why that might be happening. It should be fun to see all the people like Wu projecting onto Far Cry 5 about killing those dang dirty republican trump voters.

"Not a single dollar!" Shrieked the troon on twitter who then travelled to the state he was boycotting.

Same with Nintendo. I'm guessing that boycott didn't last for two reasons, Ali talked shit about how insane John is. Also, how can he be the Godzilla of techfeminism and not buy all the hottest games while living in filth and squalor.

Wu is running for congress in my district in Massachusetts next year. I should really run against her just to troll and then drop out because I really fucking don't want to be a congressman.

Wait... if this video was just released, what the fuck is she talking about right here?

Q: What do you see as the direction of games, where are they going?

A: I think we're having a crisis of innovation right now. The Playstation has just come out - the Playstation 4 and the Xbox One - and, y'know, we have all this extra processing power and we're using it for just slightly prettier explosion effects and and more particles.

"To me, the future of games looks more emotional in the game design. So what I mean by that is better AI for story, just making players feel a more emotional reaction to it, rather than hitting this benzodiazepine loop of like, killing someone and getting into this cycle."

I think you meant dopamine loop you freaky addict.

Sweet fucking Jesus....Fucking AI has nothing to do with storytelling. If you're using UE4 it's a series of connected nodes that's basically telling it what to do in a give situation. Say find cover if it's getting shot at, go to a spot, it may have some dialog attached to an action, but that's about it.

Writers and the actual 3d artists have more to do with the actual storytelling than the guy working on AI.

Yes, its dopamine. Benzos are depressants and anti-anxiolytics. So they'd be more to do with bordem and sedation rather than reward or pleasure. John means addictive, but the stupid fucking goblin wants to sound smart so he threw in a big fancy word he didn't understand and had the opposite meaning.

AI? What the fuck is he talking about? God he is so. fucking. stupid. I've seen some dumb cows before, but DSP has the excuse of being a clinical narcissist and MovieBob at least has some grounding in something or just bad ideas but I've never seen one as flat out dumb as Brianna Wu.

What he means is probably, in his mongoloid brain, are AI characters that can imitate an actual conversation which can effect the story. Getting that without it sounding like a drunk whose brain is so damaged from alcohol everything they say is a word salad is expensive, hard and will never beat competent writing and art. At least not until we develop quantum computers and have them pass the Turing test. Flynt is an autist of the supreme degree who thinks tech can solve anything, including emotional storytelling.

Here's what you need for emotional storytelling in games, the two things you said: A good writer who understands game design and good artists who can evoke emotion. The problem is that both of these things get expensive and time consuming and AAA games are tight budget wise. When tech gets better and cheaper, more competent writers can be hired along with amazing VFX artists.

Wu has neither the writing talent or artistic talent so he wants someone else to do it for him so he can look good.

Quantum computers are actually rather slow if theories are to be believed.

I'd like to also mention that an artist for a game maybe page $56k a year. Not really a lot when you compare how much money that game may make. Most of the profit for an artist comes in the form of benefits once the game is released.

You also have companies now hiring people straight out of school to fill in roles to save money. (Bioware for instance)

I think John honestly believes that we're right on the cusp of having AI on the level of Star Trek's Holodeck characters, and the only thing holding us back from writing games with it is toxic dudebro gamergoblin culture.
Remember the startup he was shopping around to venture capitalists, for games that would "use VR to recognize emotion" or whatever? He consistently thinks the great unsolved problems of computing (or of humanity in general) are a piece of cake.

I'd love to see his input on the p=np problem. He'd probably say "yes, if n=1".

As much as John hates to admit it, he's an ivory tower imbecile who day dreams for when stuff like that is real. Current day technology has barely scratched the surface of achieving this, but beneath all his "profound" statements on the issues are an overgrown sci-fi geek whose actual science knowledge is very shallow.

Time and again, he's been summarily humiliated every time he tries to punch above his weight class to anyone who knows what they are actually talking about, but it would take a ton of humiliation and disgrace as well as being decisively told to their face they were a fool in front of practically everyone before the slightest bit of reality will ever pierce their veil of self-deluded BS.

And even then I'm not optimistic Flynt will ever learn.

Didn't know that about quantum computers. And I mean really skilled artists, not fresh meat like the ones who did Andromeda

Yeah, that seems to be the case with really fucking dumb people who think that we're on the verge of some utopia. Of course he wants that, that means he could make games super easy.

If I had a Divine Beast for every one in District 8 voting for John...I'd have four too many.

Has anyone ever asked why John only give talks on gamergate? For someone who claims to be an engineer/game dev/journalist etc why doesn't he attend GDC and give talks on game design or give talks on software development? If he's so experienced in these areas as he claims and he isn't a one trick pony.
