Far Cry 3 was also a brilliant subversion of the idea of escapist power fantasy, but we can't let minor details like that get in the way of The Narrative. That game let you shoot brown people, therfore it was saying that all brown people should be shot!

Weren't most of the mercenaries you had to fight in the second half of the game a bunch of pasty white guys with the occasional black guy thrown in? I mean it made sense that the pirates were all dark-skinned people because they were mostly natives living on the island and other folks who came in from the neighboring countries, and one of the main points of the plot was that the frat boy main protagonist was helping the natives of the island fight the pirates and mercenaries that were using their beloved island as a base for their criminal empire. It's funny how Wu excluded that little bit when she was criticizing the game to try to make its sound like the main character was a lily white yuppie boy who came to the island solely to kill and fuck brown people, which is probably what ol' John "sand nigger" Flynt was probably fantasizing about while she was playing.
