Yeah, he even explained that she's a cyborg with a completely manufactured appearance and she doesn't know who she was before so it doesn't matter.
The reason I know that is because I read an article on that shit-site Bustle that explained that and somehow tried to use that as a reason for why she HAS to be japanese.
Then the author furiously complained about that Death Note show and a character with the name of Light Turner and I just stopped reading because that name is clearly english, wtf.
It wasn't a surprise that the writer was a thirtysomething white woman.
The comments were a hoot though, some chinaman argued that Kung-Fu skills were an accumulated hereditary trait, so because Iron Fist's father and grandfather weren't Kung-Fu'ers he couldn't possibly become good at it. So the idea that asians are born with martial arts skill is true now, man, it's hard to keep up with what's racist or not these days.
Then he explained that asians were the best at combat sports and the UFC is just afraid to sign any orientals because they'd beat all the white boys.

I just tried tweeting some proof of her love for the Yankees to her moron supporters but it looks like twitter is failing to send the tweet. I think twitter may not let you tweet at accounts that are mutually blocked anymore as she blocked me years ago. Or maybe twitter is just having technical difficulty again but I doubt it.

My number one reason would be to take the piss out of it for being hilariously ignorant about Christianity. I guess making ham fisted references to stuff you don't understand is only bad when white people do it.
It's particularly insensitive given that the Japanese Christian community had their religion outlawed and were forced to practice only in secret during the days of the shogunate, with some being crucified. In a final stroke of awful luck, many of them died in Nagasaki when the bomb dropped in 1945.
