However, if the Republicans retained control of the House, and if they wanted to screw with the Democrats in a truly nasty manner, they could break with tradition and vote Flynt/Wu in as a Democratic member of the most powerful committees in the House, a position that would assure him constant media exposure and make him one of the national faces of the Democratic Party. That's certainly what I would do.
The problem, as with everything relating to politics, is retribution. If I'm low man on the elephants' totem pole on the House Armed Services Committee, I decidedly do not want to deal with the possibility of my seat being taken by a tard in revenge two, four or six years from now.

Listening to an ebook while on the shitter is not exactly "working", John.

If Wu actually got elected (and assuming no other new Congressman from Massachusetts was elected at the same time) she would at the bottom of the barrel for her state's delegation. At best, she might be able to get a seat on a minor committee and that's assuming 1) the Democrats become the majority in the House and 2) someone in the party's hierarchy is will to throw her a bone.

As for trying to get any legislation passed, fat chance. Any bill she tries to propose herself will die in committee, and we already know she doesn't work well with others.

Wu imagines herself being some kind of powerful and influential Congressman after getting elected, but doesn't realize that the only way to get that way in Congress is through tenure and/or being able to cut deals behind the scenes.
Uh John is living in a power fantasy where he's god emperor after elected. It's why he doesn't realize he's already failed to launch. He will never win this district.

Well, obviously this is all hypothetical. Even if by some miracle he managed to beat Lynch in the primaries, the Republicans could probably pick literally anyone and have a good chance at winning, and nothing is keeping Lynch from simply running as an independent.

As a first-term representative, Flynt/Wu and his fellow newbies would get to pick their committee assignments after everyone more senior had picked the assignments they want. The newbies basically get to fight over table scraps. Both parties use this system.

Once the parties have approved their slate of committee assignments, the entire House votes to approve the assignments. This is almost always a pro forma process, with the parties' lists being rubber stamped by the full House.

I don't want to live in that universe, but would love to read news articles and watch videos from it.

In close communication, ya'll.

Those New 535 people seem pretty nuts, but I don't think even they're nuts enough for Wu.

Lets see what they're looking for in a candidate:

They are respected in their communities with a track record of service in their jobs, neighborhoods, religious organizations, charities, etc.

Wu isn't even respected on twitter, and only has a track record of service to herself.

We can tell from their life stories that they won't sell out in DC, because many of their life choices have put others in front of their self interest.

Wu'll sell out in a heartbeat, and is nothing buf self-interest.

They agree with the BNC platform. They need to believe that America already has everything it needs to fix our economy, our healthcare system, our schools and our justice system -- and that we can just do it if we have the political will.

Well, I suppose Wu'll say anything to get elected. They probably should have said "believe."

They are non-dogmatic, optimistic people who believe the American people can build our country by working together. They do not believe in any left wing or right wing silver bullet such as simply slashing government or simply growing government will solve all our problems.

I suppose Wu is non-dogmatic, in the sense that you can't be dogmatic if you have no principles.

They do not have any disdain or condescension for any group of Americans and have a high level of empathy.

Brianna "mansplaining sand nigger" Wu is well known to respect all people.

They are good at what they do.

HAHAHAHA, that's a good one.

They are trusted by the people they currently serve

Nobody who knows Wu trusts her for more than about five minutes.

They have, in general, never held or sought public office, though this is not a hard and fast rule.

Oh, a swing and a miss for Brianna "I lived in Washington" Wu.

They are ideally someone involved in doing work that actually keeps our country going: nurses, teachers, engineers, workers, moms and dads, social workers, veterans, law enforcement, first responders, managers and we could go on and on with this list

I don't think shouting "I'M A SOFTWARE ENGINEER!" on twitter every five seconds couunts.

They have the skills that would make them good candidates against experienced incumbents -- they’ve got to be able to talk, and to develop a grasp of all the major issues affecting their district.

I don't think Wu even knows where the 8th district is.

They are a good fit for their district

Perhaps if you're the furthest possible thing from a good fit, the scale wraps around at some point...

Goddamn, for someone who hates mansplaining he sure does it alot. Fuck off John is this supposed to make you look insightful or something? Has all this damn advice abou careers and has never even had one.

John, you're about as "non-threatening" to men and women alike as a giant rat with bubonic plague.

Has all this damn advice abou careers and has never even had one.

This is what kills me about John running for congress. He's Betsy DeVos without the money or connections.

All of his stints at working or running a company we're massive failures. He's not a pillar of the community in any of the districts he's lived in. He hasn't performed any community service or has any roots in the community.

He has no valid qualifications to replace Lynch in DC. It's all delusions of grandeur.

I can think of several, way more reasonable uses for money, than donating it to Brianna's "vidya & ambien" fund.

John, your goblin ass is about as nice as late-stage ebola.

Well, perhaps Brianna is acutally nice but the evil guy is... is...
...wait a second, I need to check something...

John: We wants it, we needs it. Must have the precious. They stole it from us. Sneaky little men. Wicked, tricksy, false!
Brianna: [shaking his head] No. Not Frank!
John: [snarling malevolently] Yes, precious, false! They will cheat you, hurt you, LIE.
Brianna: Frank is my friend.
John: You don't have any friends; nobody likes you!
Brianna: [closes his ears with his hands] I'm not listening... I'm not listening...
John: You're a liar and a thief.
Brianna: No.
John: [sinister whisper] *emasculator*.
Brianna: [voice breaking; hurt by John's remark] Go away!
John: "Go away?"
[John laughs mockingly as Brianna begins to cry]
Brianna: [weeping] I hate you. I *hate* you.
John: Where would you be without me, uh? John, John... *I* saved us! It was me! *We* survived because of *me*!
Brianna: [stops crying] Not anymore.
John: What did you say?
Brianna: Frank looks after us now. We don't need you anymore.
John: [appalled] What?
Brianna: Leave now, and never come back!
John: No!
Brianna: [louder and firmer] Leave now, and never come back!
[John snarls in frustration]
Brianna: LEAVE! NOW! AND NEVER COME BACK!
[John is silent; Brianna waits]
Brianna: [looks around; then begins galumphing around with joy] We told him to go away... and away he goes, Precious! Gone, gone, gone! Brianna IS FREE!
