So... what happens when Wu Loses?

In a lot of places you get perpetual candidates- folks that 'run' cycle after cycle with no chance of winning. Sometimes it's for ideology, a sort of quixotesque mission to get a particular traffic sign put up or to reveal the alien conspiracy. But then you have people who do it just so they can try and feed their own egos, call themselves a politician and get their name in public once every few years.

I'm honestly not sure whether Wu will go with that or just lose interest when the ($1!) money and attention dries up.

PLOT TWIST: It's not his daughter

Also it's an anime avatar

Who the hell sends a death threat over facebook?

Oh wait, telling Wu to 'shut up' is probably considered a 'death threat'.

I don't recall where I saw it, it could have been a tweet or one of her staged softball interviews but I know she has stated that if she lost in 2018 she would definitely be in on 2020. So it looks like we have a good 4 years of more Wu entertainment. I imagine we will be on thread 12 by then.

Theoretically, If Wu wins and finds herself in Congress then what happens?

What will her first few actions be, Who will support her many notions, Will she just be considered butt monkey by the rest of congress?

Who the hell sends a death threat over facebook?

More to the point, who would send a death threat over facebook from their personal account?

I've resisted jointing the borg, but I'm pretty sure you can't send private messages to people you aren't friends with and that all your friends can see what you wrote on someone else's page. I'm guessing total bullshit yet again.

If you remember, Wu originally asked twitter for advice on how to run for president in 2020. I guess someone mansplained that's probably not something that's going to happen unless you've got a record of political service already. Hilariously, once she fails in 2018 she might just double down on her ambitions and go for the big enchilada.

Who the hell sends a death threat over facebook?
It actually happens, believe it or not (probably not in this case). I'm a member of some groups on Facebook, seen it happen have had threats from real accounts sent to me as well over really really stupid things.

i really hope WU races that car of his. I would love to see the video of a car with roughly 200-225 HP when brand new coming in either dead last bout 30 mins after the real race cars or just blowing the 17 y/o engine on lap 2. should make for sweet snap chat glasses video. interesting he's talking about this while there is some fast n furious marathon on cable today.

I had a short DM conversation with Quincy last night, I may or may not have linked her to Wu's lolcow wiki. She has done a full 180 on Wu and she was really down on herself for donating to her campaign and she felt stupid for not doing more research on Wu before kinda blindly supporting her. I don't think she'll make that mistake again.
I feel bad for Quincy and others who might have bought into the Brianna myth. If these journalists that humor her would do their job and tear her fraudulent ass apart from the beginning, this wouldn't be an issue and we'd probably have a different form of Wu screeching.

Johnny was a race car driver
Frank drove him around so fast
Never did win no checkered flag
But in the election he'll come in last
Johnny was a race car driver, he said "I'm a real wo-mun"
With a Barbie sticker on her CPU her campaign is all but done.

Johnny was a racecar driver
Thirty-nine years old
Mouthed off 'bout some rich old kike
And got strung up from a telephone pole.

If Wu actually got elected (and assuming no other new Congressman from Massachusetts was elected at the same time) she would at the bottom of the barrel for her state's delegation. At best, she might be able to get a seat on a minor committee and that's assuming 1) the Democrats become the majority in the House and 2) someone in the party's hierarchy is will to throw her a bone.

As for trying to get any legislation passed, fat chance. Any bill she tries to propose herself will die in committee, and we already know she doesn't work well with others.

Wu imagines herself being some kind of powerful and influential Congressman after getting elected, but doesn't realize that the only way to get that way in Congress is through tenure and/or being able to cut deals behind the scenes.

As a first-term representative, Flynt/Wu and his fellow newbies would get to pick their committee assignments after everyone more senior had picked the assignments they want. The newbies basically get to fight over table scraps. Both parties use this system.

Once the parties have approved their slate of committee assignments, the entire House votes to approve the assignments. This is almost always a pro forma process, with the parties' lists being rubber stamped by the full House.

However, if the Republicans retained control of the House, and if they wanted to screw with the Democrats in a truly nasty manner, they could break with tradition and vote Flynt/Wu in as a Democratic member of the most powerful committees in the House, a position that would assure him constant media exposure and make him one of the national faces of the Democratic Party. That's certainly what I would do.
