I will never understand how someone who hasn't worked for a technology company in their life can posit so many first hand accounts of the industry's failings.

In my experience, working almost 20 years in tech now, women tend to shy away from it after the heavy stuff gets thrown at them, and it generally tends to be stereotypical things women don't like: math, algorithms, and heavy lifting.

In IT you'd be surprised to see how many women drop out when they realize that you're essentially a plumber.

In Comp Sci the number of women that dropped out after CS 101 was astonishing - we started with a class of a 1:1 male:female ratio - by the time CS 201 hit there were zero women in our class. Most of them dropped out after failing to learn things like counting in hexadecimal, and advanced calculus.

The only sexism I saw was their own assumptions that since they were women they could glide through everything,then when the hard shit hit they washed out.

The problem with the mentally unstable thing is defining mentally unstable.

There was a flap recently about this, where an Obama initiative would have blocked gun sales to any social security recipient who used it to pay for any mentally impairing disability. Even the ACLU supported the repeal of that initiative, and any who follows the issue closely can tell you that the ACLU gives roughly zero shits about guns. Defining a "mental deficiency" is a major problem. Being gay would have qualified until relatively recently (about 44 years ago it was in the DSM). Gender dysphoria is still a mental illness- is it "crazy enough" to warrant the revocation of gun rights without question hearing or involuntary confinement? Bear in mind that question 11.f of the 4473 background check paperwork specifically asks if one has ever been adjudicated mentally defective or if they have ever been committed to a mental health institution. Lying on this form is a felony (although rarely pursued, as the form also asks about drug usage). An answer in the affirmative is an automatic denial.

That said, how wonderfully ironic it would be if the adjudication of trannies as mental defectives based on the warbling of retarded anti-gunners led to Wu losing his beloved Glock 34 (which, in choosing the best model of Glock, is an astonishingly surprising show of taste by Wu).

The question of who can own a firearm is a very important one in American culture and it's not something that can really be easily discussed... mostly because those who are opposed to firearms ownership are infamously and notoriously incremental; and gun owners tend to be extremely skeptical of any anti-gun initiative.

That said, Lynch has an F rating by the NRA. Wu does not gain anything by pretending to be anti-gun, even if we assume this campaign is anything more than a mockery of the electoral process. The district in question probably cares very little about guns in general, and I doubt even Lynch makes much noise about it, other than schmoozing with the other anti-gunners whenever there is a mass shooting. Gun control is one of those issues where it might be a dividing issue but rarely do anti-gun sentiments drive voters to a poll, whereas a large number of voters are nearly if not completely single issue voters with regards to gun rights.

Just more retarded virtue signaling from Wu.

I don't understand why people would drop out when they find they're essentially plumbers. At least where I live plumbers make a comfortable wage and have a high level of job security through bad economic times. People still need their pipes fixed, even in a recession.

Given that IT doesn't have anywhere near the physical toll on your body that plumbing does, this sounds like classism towards tradesmen, which all these trendy left wing types should be trying to eliminate. I'd certainly sooner take up a trade than try to make my career out of Let's Plays or some of the other harebrained career plans we've seen from our lolcows.

It's easier to cry sexism than classism. The latter is so much more deeply ingrained in the national psyche, it's nearly invisible.

If the Trump administration wasn't silent, why would things be different? Russia isn't a free society, and people disappeared there during Obama's time as well. Thinking the United States can make the entire world free is the kind of harebrained logic that led to the Iraq War.
 
It helps if Wu goes and checks who started these riots in the first place. The opposition leader wanted to create anarchy on the streets for political reasons. Also Alexei Navalny was arrested and according to more unbiased reporters only dozens not hundreds of people were arrested.

Edit: I would like to point out these activists wanted PM Dmitry Medvedev removed, not Putin.

Again, it helps to do some fact checking, but this is Wu we're talking about.
