So it didn't take long but Brianna Wu for Congress has already committed their first FEC violation.

After filing a Statement of Candidacy, you have 10 days to file a Statement of Organization. Wu of course didn't do that and filed it on February 22, almost 2 months after announcing her candidacy. The FEC sent a letter requesting clarification on why they had broken the rules and this resulted in Frank having to send a groveling apology and claim ignorance.

Edit: Fuck I'm sorry if I'm late on this. Tough to keep up with this thread if you miss a few days.

Flynt/Wu's implication is very clear: There's only one side to this issue, and cis people need to shut the hell up and give in to all of the troons' lunatic demands.

EDIT: Ninja'd a bit by @AngeloTheWizard.

Nah, you actually explained shit, I'm just quoting the Bush administration.

Bread and butter issues that matter to the public.

Oh for fuck's sake, this isn't Shadowrun. Hacking would be if someone else made the airbag go off while you're in a high speed Mad Max chase through downtown, which I'll have to keep in mind next time I play Shadowrun.

I don't even know if what John is talking about is even a thing. If it is, it would be more spoofing then hacking. And it seems like a long way to go for a very easy fix, in my eyes.

Doing a bit of searching it sounds like he'd be purchasing a "VAG-COM" unit to clear the code after installing the refurbed airbag controller, which seems to be standard "don't wanna pay 1k" practice in the community.

It's not so much "hacking" as clearing an error code it seems.

So nothing to get too excited about, Wu's not going to blow up his engine this way unfortunately.

And no one is clamoring for these experiences to be made into an app.

It's like John is some kind of alien who finds what motivates normal humans to be completely incomprehensible to him. Oh, yeah, that's called autism.

So, I thought I'd look online and see how complicated it is to replace the airbag controller in an Audi TT. (It's not complicated, but it's very tedious and time-consuming -- and well beyond Flynt/Wu's skill set.)

However, I can't wait till Flynt/Wu stumbles across this site and fires off an insanely angry tweet about sexism and transphobia:

Do you need a vag to replace airbag module?

The answer seems to be that under most circumstances you will indeed need a vag to replace the module, so Flynt/Wu is out of luck.

I know a lot of people think I'll of Audi's cars here, but in terms of style they were some of my favorite modern car companies. Sadly, the key word here being were. Wu really killed the brand for me.

Why would you put so much effort into a 16 year old car you aren't even licensed to drive? Like are her followers supposed to be impressed that she has purchased a vehicle?

Have you had the chance to talk to his loyal followers? Buying a 15 year old car is about as big of an accomplishment as they could ever hope for.

Yes unfortunately for Wu, Neo-Vag-Com units use an obviously non-standard connector and the cable connecting the plug to the computer is actually just a piece of very thick twine encased in heat-shrink tubing.

Um... H&K doesn't make anything called an "MK5." And an MP5 is not a rifle.

That whole gun thread is really rife with bullshit. "[MA requires] licensing your gun with local police." No they fucking don't.

"You know damn well what I'm talking about. (the disconnect is that I don't)." ~Brijohnna Wu

That's why fully automatic weapons have been essentially illegal to own in this country since 1934, you stupid, stupid sack of shit.

The "define an assault rifle" argument is in fact a necessary one simply because of the misleading and downright ignorant crap that gets thrown about like this. Of course Brianna Wu is on board with spreading it around.

By the way, Lynch already has an "F" rating from the NRA, so good luck putting any daylight between you and him on this particular issue, you stupid, stupid, fraudulent sack of shit.

How dare you mansplain to Flynt/Wu. Everybody knows that the German word Maschinenpistole (the "MP" in MP5) translates to rifle in English.

It's also pretty obvious that Flynt/Wu doesn't understand that semi-auto versions of many automatic weapons are manufactured for the civilian market. As in every other field, complete ignorance of the subject at hand doesn't stop him from tweeting ludicrous bullshit.

EDIT TO ADD: To be fair,™ the letters MK do represent a certain type of weapon in German. Specifically, the Maschinenkanone. I have to agree with Flynt/Wu that no civilian needs to have a machine canon. Here's a picture of one:

Also, I think Wu is confused as fuck. I think he's referring to having to submit a license application through your local PD - like nearly every single jurisdiction does in the united states, but he thinks it means registering your gun witht he local PD.

TL;DR: Wu's stupid as fuck.

So instead of paying an Audi tech to reflash her computer for $1,000, she's gonna have frank buy a $6,000 Audi chip re-programmer so she can do it herself.... If "hacking" your car was that easy, mechanics would have been doing it for years and not spending the majority of their paychecks on tools.

Honest question. Hasn't Brianna said before that video games influence behavior? It seems to be a common SJW canard, to justify pushing their pet causes on the industry. (I know MovieBob has said it.) By that logic, wouldn't pushing gun simulators cause an increase in IRL shootings?

Car companies are kinda funny with srs warranty time periods, the whole thing might still be covered.

However it would be hilarious if John managed to trigger something while screwing around with the system.

Of course. She wanted to fucking make VR games with the express purpose of influencing behavior.
