I wonder if we ought to draw the FEC's attention to the fact that Wu is still soliciting donations on patreon.

I don't know what their stance is on political candidates taking personal donations while running for office, I suspect the whole area is murky and the rules untried because no serious candidate would risk muddying the waters like this. If Wu weren't such a greedy shit, she would have shut down the patreon months ago when GSK ceased to be a going concern. It's pathetic that she's still trying to rake in her harassment bucks so long after the fact.

I wonder if she's going to claim Gamergate infiltrated the FEC too.

No, but I would be completely unsurprised if she claimed she was personally targeted by Trump, possibly with Lynch working hand-in-hand with the White House (or wicked sorcerer Steve Bannon) to take down her courageous run for Congress.

It wouldn't surprise me, if it wouldn't at least raise a couple of eyebrows, since it would be an obvious channel to offer her a bribe.
It also would surprise me, if she's gotten payed for her shills through Patreon, she did a lot of Nerf-shilling in the days before Christmas, and around that time her Patreon donations rose by about 150-200 $ for about a month.

This FEC issue is just the tip of the iceberg but it would be extremely funny if this is what took John out of the campaign before it even started.

If only they had hired someone knowledgeable to run his campaign and staff instead of imaginary campaign staffers like Natalie.

Yeah but who the fuck wants to hear a song called "Streets of Laramie."

John Walker Flynt?

FEC investigation will promptly wrap this 'campaign' up prematurely I'm going to guess.

Even Frank only has so much fuck off time left in his day to deal with this dumb shit. Flu will fold up shop after one try and fail at getting the FEC off their back for laziness. Then I guess we'll get journalism John W. Flynt for another little fling and then I'm going out on a limb here and predicting 'Speed Racer' Flynt ends the charade by impacting the retaining wall in their first pro-am race at top speed while breaking their neck in the crash. The last words uttered as the concrete speeds toward them will be something about gama-gutters cut the brake line.

There will be a fourth thread prior to this ending though, don't sweat.

In all honesty, I think her best defense would be "Tee-hee I'm an outsider I didn't know <3".

Based on her tweets, she didn't actually look into the rules until Feb 15, nearly two months after declaring her candidacy. Which is her typical "expert in everything, competent in nothing" attitude at work.

Since it's a house campaign, I'm guessing at most she'll probably get a slap on the wrist, unless she really fucks up her response. But if she misses another deadline or breaks another rule, the penalties become more severe. The best part though is that the response has to be on the public record so we'll be sure to hit thread #4 once that drops.

This strikes me as pretty likely. It's similar to the attitudes most courts will take to pro se litigants in that they'll give them lots of leeway to fuck up. Honestly, though, I have no idea if the FEC takes such a generous pose or not.

Thanks for the directions to their website, by the way. I can tell this is going to be a goldmine going forward.

So Brianna registered to run back in December and named Brianna Wu for Congress as her committee. By law, she had to register her committee within ten days of that. Frank did it for her in February. Now they have to explain why it took two months.

If they don't like what they hear (which they won't), her whole campaign will undergo an audit.
I mut be an idiot, but where did we get the document? Did she tweet it? (EDIT: Ninja'd)

And also, did Wu delete the Matthew Shepard mistake?

Yeah, this. The FEC probably deals with legions of half-baked vanity candidates every year and doesn't have time to crucify every Archimedes Plutonium-type kook who doesn't get the paperwork just right.
I imagine they'll probably pay a little attention to Flynt For Congress since he's (supposedly) already taking in official campaign donations across state lines, but he's still a nobody.

Now here's a question: is Frank, as the "treasurer", completely on the hook for all this? It would be hilarious if this all blows up in his face, personally.

EDIT: OK, I actually looked up what will happen.

Pretty much, the feds are going to talk it over with the Flynt campaign, make Frank promise to get it right in the future, and put the campaign on "probation" for a month or so. Nothing serious.

I wonder if any of the "journalists" that have interviewed John recently will follow up on this FEC violation.....:story:

He'll likely make up some BS excuse about "threats from GamerGate" if he continues campaigning and shut everything down if the FEC starts demanding a pound of flesh before he even risks that being a news story.

Oh good, John is a stock expert now.

MCD up 41 cents on the day, up to 128,77, at morning high, down to 127.96 on the intraday low. That's less than a dollar price move. It's literally no move at all.
