EDIT TO ADD:
As a print journalism major, Flynt/Wu had to do a certain amount of scut work at the college paper at Ole Miss. I've done a Lexis search for his byline; nothing he did qualified as "investigative journalism." Aside from the Millsaps and Ole Miss student papers, Flynt/Wu has had no bylines at all in any newspaper in the United States.

@Elwood P. Dowd the whole "investigative reporter" thing is just one of those things that never happened. John has had maybe one actual job, and that was probably after his family kicked him to the curb and before Frank picked up his (literal) pet project.
