This particular procedure involved full body tattooing, which can take over ten hours and is, naturally, horribly painful. The "general" (I saw what I did there) consensus in the video is the risks of going under a general far outweigh the rewards.

Any kind of surgical procedure can turn fatal very fast, and too many people think a general is a trivial, safe procedure, which it very much is not.

That doesn't change my stance: if you are too much of a pussy to deal with getting a full body tattoo without general (fuck, without a LOCAL) then you are too much of a pussy to have a full body tat and I am glad this waste of flesh died.
Which is not contradictory to your point that general is basically putting you very close to dying and can go very wrong no matter the procedure.

Rowling's position back when this started wasn't too different from what John is trying to claim is his own (before contradicting that within minutes) and had she not come under attack and been pushed into the arms of the GCs she probably wouldn't have drifted from it into the more hardcore position she holds now.

Notably John is making the same mistake again, Rowling disagreed slightly so was savaged and that just led her to realizing she agreed with the TERFs on more stuff. How is John's position the "moderate welcoming" one if it casts out non-believers the same way as the troons he's claiming to be against? He doesn't know how to speak to Rowling, or any other in the GC orbit, so he writes them off and therefore anyone close to their position. Even though those are just as, if not more important, to win to any moderate position especially because the GCs largely have a compromise position available that aligns somewhat with what John claims to want that conservatives won't entertain.
