I'll give Leor a small break here. John says they drove together from MA, so Leor is probably exhausted from John's bullshit by this point. Whenever John talks, especially during his tired anecdote about trying to off himself at the age of 4, Leor looks like he's trying to stifle the world's biggest eye roll.
Also, Leor actually put together a presentation with data and references, while John prefaces everything he says with "I feel that..." All he did was recite the same 5 personal anecdotes he regurgitates on twitter several times a week.
John: "the science on this is garbage. Everything you presented is garbage. The only truth is my personal experience."
You're such a stupid, disingenuous asshole, John. Lucky for you the audience appears to be full of other retards. The first person asking a question is a trans man, who John misgenders, and then when Leor points out that John doesn't support trans men, John lies and denies it..
This was a major L for Leor.
For some reason he drove up
with Wu, which is fucking weird, and also really really dumb when dealing with a narcissistic manipulator like Wu.
Leor put a massive amount of work into this, Wu did next to nothing except to choose his outfit. The moderator and organisations allowed a situation where Leor put forward all the arguments and all Wu had to do was find something to nitpick. That's not a debate, that's an employee trying to convince their jerk boss (and losing).
Wu interrupted Leor constantly, neither Leor nor the moderator called him out on this.
Wu's evidence was entirely anecdata, Leor didn't call him out on this.
Wu's interruptions, even just to say "sure", are intentional. Their effect is two fold:
- Keep Wu's interlocutor on the back foot
- Enforce Wu as the one in charge
You can see this second effect through the debate, but especially during Q&A, and the musical interruption. The moderator will say something, such as "onto the next question", Wu will quite literally interrupt the moderator to say the same thing, but louder. If you're not watching and listening carefully, you'd be forgiven for thinking all of these directions came entirely from Wu.
Wu's interjections also ensure that you, the listener, will struggle to hear Leor's arguments. Leor is about to make a point, Wu jumps in to say something, and now you've just forgotten what Leor had just said.
If Leor wasn't such a faggot who had to drive back home with Wu, maybe he would've been willing to call this shit out.
Wu will use this event to further promote himself and add to his legitimacy, it did nothing to promote Leor, nor add to his legitimacy.
Leor will now also have to forever deal with Wu calling Leor his good friend on xitter every time Wu talks about this.
There's no point in doing these debates if it just turns into another free platform for John. Call him out on his shit, or don't call him at all.
