It's funny, because on paper, most of what John's proposing is somewhat reasonable. Take a minute to think about it, however, and eventually it's clear that even a "reasonable" stance is anything but. Let's take it point by point:
- While it would be an improvement to stop throwing hormones at someone at the first inclination of trooning out, we need to accept that it is not, in fact, "health care" for anyone. Gender dysphoria is either brought on by mental illness or from a fetish. The former needs therapy to help people work out their problems with their bodies, and the latter needs to get sent to horny jail.
- I agree that gender activists need to stop grooming children, but no child gets these ideas from nowhere, despite John's insistence that he magically came to the realization he was a tranny when he was little. "Trans kids" don't exist without grooming, and puberty blockers will hopefully be looked back on with the same horror we do with lobotomies today.
- There are a lot of girls who are turning into pooners due to social contagion, this is true. But as I mentioned before, this same thing is happening to a lot of men as well. The cult preys on the weak, no matter who they are.
- Also true, but the fact is that there remains no scientific evidence that troonery is a legitimate condition that isn't just someone feeling bad about themselves. We do not treat any other body dysmorphia the way that trannies are treated, and for good reason; who in their right mind would tell an anorexic to starve themselves, or willingly amputate someone who wants their arm removed? It's long past time we do the same with the sole outlier.
- Fringe progressives are the only people willing to support trannies, because trannies are a fringe progressive movement. Exit polls imply that there's a majority of voters who think this shit has gone on long enough, and that number is likely only going to continue to rise.
And really, that's the problem with John's attempt to reframe this as a "live and let live" scenario. Put simply, it's not. If you're just cross-dressing behind closed doors to get your rocks off, sure, whatever, you do you. But trannies
have to inflict their bullshit on the rest of the world. Whether it's something basic like barging into a restroom you don't belong in, or demanding that you be seen by an OB/GYN (preferably a woman), or steamrolling through women's sports, trannies cannot exist without trying to force everyone to comply with their delusions. Even a simple "misgendering" (read: telling them the truth) will cause them to spiral.
There is no scenario where trannies can just be who they want without making it anyone else's concern, because by the very nature of their existence, they
require everyone else to play along. I don't care that you've spent the better part of two decades pretending to be a woman, John, you aren't and never will be one, no matter how principled you pretend to act.
