I get the feeling that Wu is only doing this for attention. As soon as criticism mounts, the campaign will die fast

You know, I wonder if the Wus have gotten any heat from the Massachusetts Democratic Party yet. Waltzing in and going to the national media about primarying one of "their" guys, fresh off his re-election, isn't going to win them any friends.

"Black lives matter" is not a controversial statement.

"Empirical data shows a disproportionate distribution of lethal force by law enforcement against ethnic minorities versus white people for similar crimes. There should be further investigation on possible mitigating factors with consideration for latent racism." is an even less controversial statement, but not quite Tweet material.

The problem is that that "Black Lives Matter" is not a statement, it is an organization with goals, originally believed to be laudable, that rapidly descended into thuggery, grandstanding, lunacy, ridiculous demands, blocking businesses and traffic, and generally making a public nuisance of itself until nobody wants them to sit at their lunch table.

Don't play dumb.

Nah, the parties ignore fringe candidates mostly. Engaging with them would help bring legitimately to the nut jobs stunt. The only way a DNC candidate would comment of Johnny's shenanigans would be if Wu somehow got the 2,000 voter signatures, filled out the paperwork and pride the 10k fee to be on the ballot.

And then the only comment would be Wu who?

I hate to be the buzzkill but there is no way mr lazy pants is going to go door to door to get the 2k signatures he needs to register. The second he finds out he has to actually do shit and can't just sit on Twitter "campaigning" he'll start to lose interest. Then once his next get famous quick scheme hatches we will be off on another adventure.
 
Please someone correct my ignorance about American politics! It seems to an outsider like she just grabbed the title of 'Democrat' and is running with it, without bothering to discuss this with the main party.

Do American parties let just any rando who has money take their names? Is there a vetting or approval process of some sort? Who are the individuals or what is the committee that accepted her into the Democrat fold as an official representative?
