I'm not sure that it is a particularly male perception -- it sounds to me like it might be something born of hard won experience.

Sure, true and honest women will still be able to find sex partners when they get past the age of 40. Particularly the ones in long term pair bonded relationships. But who's pursuing the 45 year old troons? It certainly won't be the tranny chasers -- my guess is that they're after twink troons like Finnster.
