never mind search engines, the world wide web itself didn't exist until 1993 - before then, the internet mostly consisted of bulletin boards and Usenet
 
Just a couple of weeks ago I speculated that he went all in on the plastic surgery so he could come out as stunning and brave.

Because he is a deluded narcissist who was fully invested in larping as a badass chick. He is either bored of that schtick or more likely the diminishing returns on being cis white woman in current year finally convinced him it was worth it for some relevancy again.
John knows that it was obvious that he was a woman but as long as he got most people to pretend he was satisfied.
Now he sees an opportunity to play the "sane" tranny and he is jumping into it. Probably stings a little that he had to give up the larp, but I guess its worth it to get people talking about him again.
 
He gave up on his old glaringly obvious lie because he needs to focus on trying to maintain the new one.

Phill Illy wore that blue dress to a conference in order to humiliate the women there - he looked absurd but he got to force them to act serious around him and take pictures with him.
