I haven't played Pokemon GO, so I wasn't aware. I just remember hearing about people mentioning microtransactions for some sort of Pokeball.
I'm surprised that BriBri didn't get triggered and demand that NOA change the name to something else without "balls" in it.

That could describe just about every speaking engagement Brianna has done. The only conventions that feature her in a more prominent position are ones ran by one of Frank's connections.

And I think even those connections are starting to run dry. When Rev60 dropped, Frank got Cory Doctorow's "endorsement" which amounted to copy-pasting a quote from Frank on his blog. I think people aren't going to actively shill for Wu anymore unless they're paid for it.

If you say that you're an engineer at least three times a week on twitter, eventually you magically learn how to write software. It's a lot easier than the traditional approach with going to university and getting a job and stuff like that.

I find it amazing, truly amazing that someone so transparently, blatantly, obviously untalented has enough clout in an industry he is very clearly at the absolute periphery of, to get these kind of speaking engagements.
John is by a large margin the best example of Dunning-Kruger I have ever seen. Google attention and other positive feedback further cement the delusion.
John calls himself a "software engineer". The reality is a 4 year body of work that culminated in a game launch on Steam so weak that it couldn't garner more than ten simultaneous players despite John constantly milking the demonstrably false harassment angle and treating it as some kind of magnum opus.
John lies about anything and everything continuously, unashamedly and without hesitation, but the failure of R60 being linked to any incompetence on his part is anathema to him. John isn't fraud, he is simply beyond delusional about his ability. I refuse to believe that someone can be so openly and easily dishonest without being fully bought into the mindset.
I think the closest analogue to John would be that phony kung fu master than legitimately thought he was invulnerable, but when he got in the ring with a real fighter and not one of his ass-patter students, he got his shit pushed in within seconds.
We can all remember the abysmal "joke" code tweet. I suspect that the Google talk will yield a similar level of technical illiteracy. Make sure you have some popcorn ready when it hits.

It's not possible that Flynt/Wu is actually going to speak at Google about anything related to computer science. He wouldn't dare. Even he knows that he'd be laughed off the stage.
He's going to reeeee at them about his unique brand of troon feminism, supporting his demands for "reform" with lies about all the women he's seen abused and driven from the field during his long and successful career as a software engineer.
