I mean... are you sure you're not either trolling or being trolled here?
'cos everything we know about R60's development says that the voice work was done and in its present state by mid-2012, while Carolyn didn't come on the payroll until over a year later. That makes sense if her actual role is what Wu says, that she beefed up the combat design and organised playtesting. I'm just not sure I believe that she wrote the script pro bono years before they ever paid her.
I'm not convinced this story really adds up.
I don't think it's either; I think it's just someone being wrong.
Remember, the source only has so much information on the matter, and they can be wrong about things same as everyone else. They may think Vaneseltine's one of the major writers, but that isn't hard to think given that she's on every single written work associated with the game, including the main writing credit on the
Lethologica. This said, however, and knowing what we already do about GSX, the truth is pretty obvious.
The bulk of the worldbuilding was done by Frank Wu.
Evidence of this being the case is everywhere. Frank is known to be soul-scarringly autistic regarding people blasting the science of the game and the setting in general. I don't have the link right in front of me, but in one of the coverages of a Revolution 60 promo thing on a website, Frank was in the comments citing how the Needler works with shit from the
Chessboard Lethologica.
Frank's also been wrist-deep in Bribri's shit for a while. If you look at the infamous MLK Ninja Cyber Death Orgy image, you see stuff by Brianna Wu and stuff by Frank on the same page. Also Frank and Brianna both have fucking obvious and blatant self-inserts in Rev60, and Frank was instrumental in Winn-Lee even being brought to the table in the first place. In fact, Frank is responsible for most of Brianna Wu's press coverage, as well as the game's financing and PR.
