Yeah, I believe you're correct. He's been very deliberate in never outright admitting it publicly. I think the closest he came was in his apology after the group chat drama:
He needs a place to discuss trans issues, and he's going to start a new trans group chat... but he never actually says "I am trans". So it comes off as a rather bizarre statement. He needs a trans group chat because he's... a public figure? Not because he's trans?
Keffals did say it publicly, though, in his video commenting on the group chat. So at this point it's not even an open secret, just a known fact.
BTW the reason Keffals gives for why John won't admit it is bullshit. According to John himself, this is a "uniquely terrible time", worse than when he transitioned in the 90s.

This was what I was looking for, thanks. He'll admit it in private, even imply it as in those tweets, but on his biggest platforms (Twitter, that one Boston Globe article where he got them to take it out) he'll never mention it. Kind of undermines his 'cool girl in tech' routine if he's just another troon after all.
It's interesting as well, because a big trump card for troons is 'outing' them as being one of the worst things you can do, even worse than deadnaming them. I can imagine he got a few people banned from Twitter for that in the old days, when he had fellow troons to cover his tracks whenever he asked. You'd think it's not possible if you ever saw him, but with online-only 'friends' I wouldn't be surprised if a large number of people think of him as a tiny icon leaning against a motorbike and nothing more.

Considering that polite society, mass media, the online realm, government, the medical industry and corporate world have fallen over themselves to accommodate trans people and issues, he seems to be confirming that the newly“uniquely terrible” part is… other trans people.

Because I've been enjoying him getting dragged I've seen what he's getting. It's the same stuff the "left" posts in replies to everybody. Which isn't really too different from what gets posted on the Kiwi Farms.
I think pushing back against these kinds of lies has always been important because they're based on an ancient fiction about the Internet that should have long been disproven. "Oh, they aren't saying that to me on Twitter, they're sending it to my e-mail." Yeah, okay, the people who post this shit all day every day with their real names attached are so afraid of telling John to kill himself or come out as a fash/Republican/MAGA/etc. (like they've done) that they're looking up how to e-mail him with a burner rather than just replying. And all these things are so terrible that John doesn't want to expose them, even as he lectures them. Despite the fact that John, like all these people, has absolutely zero problems making false allegations against people whether it's writing death threats to himself or claiming he has receipts on Jesse Singal but refuses to post. John's so taken aback that these leftists that he now hates that sent him something terrible in his DMs he's not going to put on blast by screenshotting it.

I doubt a straight answer will be forthcoming from any of the involved parties -- I think there's at least an optics issue and they are likely playing close to some lines so they have to partition things carefully. John's a little radioactive right now
John sort of stuck his foot in his mouth on that chudlogic interview "...I...I don't understaaand" (basically he was blindsided, he never really considered it. Maybe he had his "literal lawyer" Frank the patent AGENT look over the ToS for conflicts).
He's been positioning himself over the past couple of years as a goon/enforcer (in hockey terms) ...like his "queensbery rules" (which he lifted from Snow Crash, he just changed kendo to boxing), his harping on realpolotik as of late, etc
His grandstanding about being a powerbroker "backchannels" and "behind the scenes" and even engaging in "old fashioned information warfare" and "fight(ing) dirty" has come back to bite him in terms of transparency and integrity
(not to mention some of his other "hot takes" like transphobia, murder squads -- and his trans/deadname veil has been pierced a bit even for the general public -- so some of his history is leaking)
That positioning isn't very compatible with the "progressive victory" thing where they are gray-paying people to 'just attend meetings'/ 'just discuss issues' to avoid running afoul of the issue John face-planted into, especially since John is director supreme poobah of the other hobby..I mean PAC

I wanted more context for some of these posts so I looked through Brianna's twitter., which I haven't done in a while. It's still full of the same ridiculous crap:
- Car posts to highlight what a cool girl she is, and even specifically directs one to men. Assuming other women wouldn't be interested in a sports car is pretty sexist, Brianna!
- "Homemade honey mustard sauce." Gotta let everyone know you didn't buy premixed honey and mustard! It's hello fresh - literally just mixing a mustard pack and honey pack.
- Claims to have a running injury and taking medication making him high. Gotta make sure to have some injury or illness on record in case an excuse for problematic statements is required.

The paying people to just attend meetings is so scummy to me. Basically a bunch of pals Wu ingratiated themselves with to join the scene and then find some backdoors way to get them paid because they are such failsons of streamers. Like what political ideology is Happening by paying these streamers to go to meetings? It makes sense they pay for canvassing but wtf is a 50 viewer average streamer going to do other than preach to their braindead audience about some niche issue that no body except terminally online trannies do.
