Is there any truth to this at all, or is John just completely wrong about basic shit about Twitter, where he spends every waking moment?

There is a "quality filter" option in your account that you can turn on. It mostly just blocks spam/automated accounts and duplicate content. Would have nothing to do with this guy at all.

Wu doesn't understand how Twitter works despite spending 14 hours a day on it.

Also... I don't tweet so I will fully admit to not understanding the whole "quality filters" thing but... I can still see this guy's tweets. Am I honestly not understanding what is going on, or is Wu actually thinking if she hides a tweet from herself, that no one else can see it? Because if that's the case, that is pants-on-head exceptional.

Twitter finally added a "Quality Filter" which automatically hides posts from accounts which appear to have low followers/just made a few minutes ago/few tweets. I don't see any option to enable it however.

Either it doesn't affect the people he claims it does, or he doesn't use it, because in any case he wouldn't even have replied to these posts if he didn't see them in the first place.

Edit: all it does is remove them from your notifications. Everyone can still see these tweets, they just don't show up in your notification inbox, which doesn't matter since Wu obsessively updates his tweet-threads minutely instead of waiting for notifications to roll in.

Any real journalist will tell you that there are an endless number of reasons that it might be necessary to reveal a tranny's previous name.

Reason No. 1: The tranny is a con artist who stole hundreds of thousands of dollars from his family and is using his new female persona to scam people on Kickstarter and Patreon and Steam. Journalists love to expose flim-flam men, and if the flim-flam man is now posing as a woman after some surgical and pharmaceutical modifications, well, that'll sell even more papers and generate even more clicks!

Edit to add:

I clap my hands in childlike glee!

In that last sentence, Brianna refers to someone who is gender fluid as they, like they are a dog (or possibly several dogs . . . I'm so confused).

And . . . ninja'd by SteelPlatedHeart.

John, famous white male con artist with no degree despite lies about it, doesn't understand journalism and mansplains to real journalists and even students in it how to do their job, when he has never had a job in his life.

It's enabled by default. You have to go in and disable it. Go to Notifications >> Settings >> Quality Filter.

I'm not sure if it's really winnowing out content it shouldn't, but I didn't like the whole idea and turned it off.

Something else that journalists -- and children in elementary school -- should note: It's neither . . . nor, not neither . . . or.

This tranny is borderline illiterate.

This is still my favorite journalism-related Wu tweet;

'cause inverted pyramid structure is J-School 101.
Saying Twitter makes you a better writer is like saying that jerking off a lot makes you a better lover.
A measly 128×128 displays contain 16,384 pixels.
To achieve 30 frames per secondfps, you must draw almost half a million pixels every second.

2/ The 1985 NES had display of 256x240, and 60 fps.
So, how did a box that cost $300 in 1985
and calculated 3,686,400 pixels EVERY SECOND YOU PLAYED?!

3/ Well, the NES was a brilliant hack. Everything you see on an NES is either an 8x8 pixel or an 8x16 pixel. They just move the tiles.
That is impressive engineering.

4/ Even if you aren't a programmer, you should appreciate the raw skill NES/SNES devs had. They didn't even have Stack Overflow for help.

Where's Natalie doing her job, Wu?

"Doesn't quote family members who get it wrong"

I know I touched on it before with my post about the "transitioning = rewriting the history books" comment, but there's a certain added level of wrongthink in not even quoting a 'wrong' source. Like, even if we personally believed that she was always a she, instead of just editing the quote accordingly ("I'll always miss Alexis, he (sic) was always an inspiration") as you would with any grammatical mistake, we're instead excising the quote from the narrative entirely.

A parallel would be publishing Fidel Castro's obituary, seeing a quote from his widow saying she'll "miss him, but is comforted by all the great achievements he single-handed achieved for Cuba" and then going "Nope, that guy was an asshole, she's got it wrong" and leaving it out.

Just cos some tranny cut their cock off and changed their name you can't retroactively go back and change their history. Reporting facts is not deadnaming.

I always thought you just quoted a person word for word, and if they got it wrong, too bad.

Yeah, that's basically what (sic) is used for. It makes it clear to the reader that the error was made by the original speaker, the publisher is aware of this, and they are publishing the literal quote because it's an authentic record. Otherwise there's ambiguity about who made the mistake, etc.

Celebrities and married women often have a different name at the end of their lives than the one they were given at birth. We don't rewrite their life stories to accommodate this and we shouldn't do so with genderspecials either.

Can't wait to see how she responds to Hilary's official website calling Pepe the Frog a symbol of White Supremacy.
