Ok, who's ready for some psychological Wunalysis? I think John's mental calculations this week were kind of like this:

"If I don't release the game, I get branded as a scammer. I'll be a laughingstock, no news outlet will hire me and my career as Top Woman in Journalism will be stillborn.

If I hype the game before it comes out, I'll get torn to bits once everyone sees how shit it is. What am I going to do?

I know! I'll release the game and commemorate this event, which has been move than 2 years in the making, with a few tweets and then act like it never happened."

Best explanation I can come up with. Can anyone who's worked on a game imagine spending the week leading up to release bitching about the alt-right on Twitter and doing fuck all to spread the word?

I wonder if Frank applied some pressure as well. If I burned half a million dollars on a wo/manchild's vanity project, I'd at least want to see how the public received it.

I don't think even Frank can self-deceive that hard, but if I burned all that money building something I'd at least want it to see the light of day. Even if my sponsored creation gets used as a public urinal, it beats "so, I just poured a dump-truck of cash down a black hole..."
