My first thought on reading Wu's most recent idiocy: "...and that soldier's name? Evelyn Beatrice Hall. And everyone on the bus started clapping"

My second thought is that even if that story were true, which it isn't, that he is making a complete false equivalence. There are certainly soldiers and officers in the US military that actually feel that way about their service. That they are fighting to uphold the ideals of the US constitution and bill of rights. However, Wu is talking about police officers. While their reason for service is no less honorable, their job has absolutely nothing to do with upholding people's freedom of speech or right to protest. It is to protect the people. "What our country stands for" has nothing to do with them not supporting someone who actively goes against them being able to do their jobs.

A boycott is a protest. Looked at it from another perspective, the police union is protesting the fact that a popular athlete is minimizing their sacrifice from his position of privilege. Their freedom to protest that is exactly what Wu's fictional soldier would have been fighting for.

tl:dr : Wu is an idiot who managed to undermine her own (already invalid) point 2 tweets later....again

Second of all, this had nothing to do with fundamentalist Christian though on evolution. The joke (as far as a Family Circus joke goes) is the confusion of the grandmother because Billy... Jimmy... Alpha Potato Head Child is sperging out about Pokemon Go. You may find it relatable: it's the expression everyone outside of your ever-shrinking hugbox makes whenever you try to make anything and everything about transgenders.

Third, nice generalization of Christians. That is called stereotyping, you shambling pile of fail and bones. It's the same kind of bullshit that you rally against all the fucking time. Regardless of how true this story is, I never really got the "fighting for your freedom" argument in relation to Iraq. Saddam Hussein was a weak dictator with an outdated army and no navy. Even if the Iraq war was lost or never fought, he was incapable of invading the United States with his pitiful military even if he wanted to. He was no threat to American freedoms.
