As you've found out, Frank has been a patent agent for various pharmaceutical companies over the years. He was in on the ground floor of one startup that did well, and that's likely where the bulk of his wealth came from. He's paid well and has a ton of stock in these companies, so that's how he keeps paying for all of John's stupid whims. @AnOminous can probably detail his responsibilities better than I could.
Now that you know this, you're free to ponder why exactly it is that Frank actually does pay for all of John's shit, which is something we've been speculating on for years.
Amusingly, John will frequently lie about Frank's career to make him sound more important than he is, whether it's implying he does scientific work instead of legal, or stating that he's a lawyer when he's not. But really, that's par for the course for John: lie, lie, and then lie some more.

Because, despite all pretension to the contrary, John is vulnerable. He has no life skills, he has no marketable career beyond increasingly obscure media appearances, and he's even too decrepit to whore himself out. (Ok, there are probably a few twisted lunatics out there who'd be into it, but let's not dwell.) Further, reading between the lines concerning his various doctor's visits and hospital stays, it seems very likely his aging troon body requires ever more maintenance to keep it going.
Can John provide for his own upkeep or his own materialistic pursuits? No.
Can Frank provide everything he wants or needs? The pinball warehouse in the cellar and the multiple Porsches answer that question.

He is not, as John often lies, an attorney. Despite that, he's had a fairly illustrious career for a scream-facing infantile wife-beating chink. I'll note the Morrison & Foerster position at the end is with one of the foremost intellectual property firms in the world.

I haven't kept up with this thread much, but the theory from years ago was that Frank was always a closeted homosexual man. He probably married his first wife (a real woman) just to satisfy the expectations of his traditional/conservative Chinese parents. He ended up abusing his wife and even tried to blacklist her from the SFWA / science-fiction fandom (where she worked?) after she left him.
Frank later married "Brianna". This is likely a cope since he can still pretend to be straight, and there's also the bonus that Brianna is totally dependent on him. Although Brianna often seems to emasculate Frank on Twitter and frivolously spends his money, I wouldn't be surprised if Frank is abusive towards him in private. They're using each other, more or less.
Unrelated: Becky Gerber, a fellow Gamergate-era lolcow, recently called out Brianna as a clout-chaser & attention-whore. I thought it was funny.

To me, one of the funniest aspects of Brianna is that he still has a conservative streak in him. He loves capitalism, and this has always been a friction point between him and other twitter leftists. I think they've always secretly seethed about his flaunted wealth & obviously exaggerated claims of victim-hood in the past, and it's become more and more intolerable to them since then. ESPECIALLY since he pretends to be cis, but he still inserts himself into LGBT+ drama all the time as a self-proclaimed expert & leader.
