Reasons to not think this, let alone think this has a "strong chance" of happening: this isn't how bankruptcy works and I'm pretty sure all those numbers are wrong too without even bothering to look them up and only just because John cited them.

Twitter R&D is a billion dollars Partly because a lot of their infra runs on custom silicon. In 2012, Cisco didn't have anything that could do the sort of global scaling Twitter needed and the closest things were millions of dollars + support. Cisco has stuff that can do it now, but they are already deep down the rabbit hole of building their own stuff. (Plus everyone hates Cisco)

The other reason twitter R&D is a billion is because all that sweet SillyValley dosh is rich people lottery tickets. Throw 50 million at 100 different ideas, and if just one of them gets a 10 billion buy out, you've doubled you money. So you always make sure you have something doing with the latest buzzwords, because your investors are hoping that becomes viable and then Microsoft/IBM/Google will need to play catch up, so they'll license it or just buy the company.

The third reason is that R&D is a D&I dumping ground to keep your ESG numbers up. You can't have trannies in operations or marketing, since they might be too busy dialiating or grooming children to respond if there an outage, so you throw them on committees and dead-ends in R&D. There's no objective metrics, so there's no uncomfortable needing to fire women managers for failing to perform.

To simplify quite a bit: R&D also has a bunch of tax accounting purposes, waste a bunch of money on something stupid and it fails, tada now you turned a profit this quarter.

I've been busy with work and personal stuff, but glad to see things are still on track here.

I love the Musk / Twitter stuff and John chiming in as if he actually has any real experience or know-how in tech.

Ultimately, Musk inherited a pile of garbage, and pruning things down, and reducing overall complexity and cost is probably the right move.

Do you still get banned on Twitter for mentioning John Walker Flynt?

A reminder that we have never once seen John actually doing any maintenance on anything. Sure, he takes a lot of pictures of disassembled (or broken) equipment or the fancy tools he buys with Frank's money, but there exists zero images or video of John actually fixing anything. It's almost as though John has no mechanical aptitude and just snarls at Frank until he does the actual work.

(I would say Frank's inept too, but he does seem to at least have some relevant skills, as evidenced by his giant 3D-printed tank he's been working on for years now. That's all the credit I'll give the screaming chink though.)
 
I think one of the most enraging things to John in this entire thread would be how nice we are to Frank even though it's always because he's compared to John. Like John has his endless jumping from "project" to "project" with maybe a couple tweets of announcement about each one and then they disappear never to be seen again, while in Frank's office you can actually see multiple projects in different states of progress so it's plausible that it's not just a mess and he actually works on stuff even if it's of questionable value too. I just assume anything that gets done is either Frank or they pay somebody to do it. Then John takes credit of course.

I suppose some people are generous to Frank, but speaking for myself I consider him nearly as big a grifter, a likely spousal abuser, and I see John as his righteous punishment.

These tweets are great because John once again outlines that he doesn't understand the ideological interest in crypto at all. He wants to take the defining feature of the entire enterprise and turn it all into yet another set of commodities traded in the already standard ways by traditional institutions. Literally asking for everyone involved in crypto to turn their books over to the state for regular examination so he can feel "safe" putting his money into it like the Old World investment strategies the boys in Venice did such as Porsches and pinball machines.

I think that John wouldn't care about people denigrating Frank for his bad traits, I think he would only care that nobody in the thread believes John's claim to be the more capable one. What does Frank abusing women have to do with him?

For sure, Frank is definitely a piece of shit, but there are very few people who are absolutely irredeemable scum of the earth (Darrell Brooks being one of them, IMO). I can admit that Frank has at least some positive qualities even if I'd never want to be around him. On the other hand, I'd really have to strain to come up with something good about John. I guess that he willingly cut himself out of the gene pool?
 
The only reason it seems like we're lighter on Frank is because John is always tearing him down. Even a lot of his "nicer" posts are usually backhanded compliments. He's only genuinely nice to Frank when he needs to trot out the "as a happily married woman" credentials to setup a strawman about some point he doesn't actually understand in the first place. That's why he was unironically using Frank, who has a history of domestic abuse, as an example of the right kind of guy. Otherwise, it's all about how Frank can't do X as good as John, or how they got into an "argument" where John was totally in the right because Frank is so dumb and helpless without him.
