The demented Vladimir Putin strikes again!! Luckily his evil efforts failed in 2018 and 2020 though.

That's right John when my mother-in-law died of lung cancer, it goes without saying that @elonmusk literally murdered her. Stay strong. Keep tagging him and one day he'll quote-tweet you with a pithy roast and you can stroke your rotting crotch stump raw for a week.

How many times have these wokescolds yelled that only government allows free speech, individual companies can do what they want and don’t have to host your bullshit if they don’t want to?

What, you mean it works both ways?!

It never occurs to these authoritarian assholes that the censorship and control they demand over people they dislike could be used just as easily over them. Like purity politics and the communist revolution in Russia (ironically), those who squeal loudest for authoritarianism eventually get chewed up by it, and they always believe it’ll never happen to them.

It’s Elon’s service, John. He can do what he wants with it.

The government doesn't allow the right to free speech, the First Amendment just protects against the government infringing it.

Freedom of speech isn't something you are given. It's something you take.

that distinction is almost meaningless now that it’s come out that the government has been using big tech companies to censor speech. the fact that everyone isn’t freaking out about this more is honestly concerning.

People have been conditioned to think free speech is less important than preventing "hate speech" or just plain uncomfortable speech for at least the last 30 years. Go talk to some of the younger cohorts and get their thoughts on free speech sometime. Shit, this website keeps getting trashed because we like to take free speech too far, which is a concept any freedom loving soul should find hideous. Sewing our mouths shut is a long term project.

Oh yes open debate, I'm sure that's exactly what you want, John. Item number 1 for discussion: Is Brianna Wu really scammer, liar, and MALE failure and fatso John Walker Flynt?

If your nation is using TWITTER ad your major information warfare battlespace, you might as well hoist the white flag, because you're fucking done.

Holy shit, I hate people like John, because using an open channel, easily hackable, unencrypted, mass media for your information warfare or your electronic battlespace, is fucking stupid.

Trying to act like Twitter is important to actual nations and actual militaries is fucking stupid.

Although, there's been quite a few times retards have tweeted or instagrammed themselves and then immediately eaten an artillery barrage or a fucking missile.

And if anything, Democracy has been damaged by social media, not because its a global weapons platform, like John bleats about like a sheep with a cratered head wound, but because of a lot more different reasons.

He IS correct that their side is losing the information war, but that's because there's finally pushback against their bullshit. For a long time politicians didn't realize that 50 fucking troons wasn't a majority in real life and that everyone on social media wasn't from the US (the most vehement whiners about US policy are usually Leafs or Eurofags) and so these fringe elements got catered too. They got used to being catered to and their electronic snivelling actually doing things in the real world.

Now, the world has remembered that force comes from the barrel of a gun, not 100 troons on Twitter, and the terminally online faggots are assblasted that people with guns aren't listening to them any more.

Democracy was damaged because the fringe minority was treated as part of the majority.

denying internet access how?
I mean John was telling us how Starlink doesn't actually work...so it can't be that

The existential threat that comes from Twatter closing really all stems from the reality that people would have nowhere else to go to act like fucking assholes with impunity.

Yes, John, employers have different legal responsibilities compared to internet forums.

John, did you ask the Ukranians where they think the "battlespace" is?

"What do we do about it?" John asks, but never answers despite five more tweets.

Amazing job again John, you saw the future. Naturally if you were god emperor of Twatter it would be perfectly fine if John Walker Flynt accounts started showing up left, right, and centre.

John, the Twitter Trust and Safety team you worshipped has always cracked down hard on impersonation. These are the rules you championed, idiot.

lmao

I like how John's Twitter break amounted to being an absolute fucking lie.

As mentioned, he did stop for maybe a day or so, even deleted a few tweets, but it didn't take long for him to be basically back to his usual habits. Curious what that big spike in followers was yesterday, nothing John said really got all that much traction. Maybe a bunch of fellow "I'm quitting forever" twits decided they couldn't handle the dopamine loss and reactivated their accounts all at once.

Oh, and what about John's Twitch adventures?
1667806103600.png

Yeah, he couldn't even manage to keep that up for more than a day, he hasn't streamed once since that tweet. His channel is so dead, it doesn't even show up on any of the various social media stat pages. There's no VOD of this stream archived either. Maybe he's still seething that the speedrun.com mod beat his time a day after he posted it.

Speedrunning? why is that so funny to me... for some reason I can't imagine it has a tenth the competence required.
What Mario game even is that?

Looks like the Japanese version of Super Mario Advance: Super Mario Bros. 2, the game he bitched about to get his special category added and then subsequently trounced at. Dunno why he's playing that one when he used the American version for the runs he's posted. Probably just a weird flex.

Enjoy this follow-up tweet where he lies about still being the world record holder in this previously unplayed category in a game that nobody runs (run posted October 23, tweet on October 31), while simultaneously bemoaning the lack of women in the speedrunning community. At least John's right in that troons aren't women, so it really is one big sausagefest, or lack thereof.

Also, can someone explain to me what it is with troons and Celeste? I swear I keep seeing that fucking game pop up in troon circles, but I know nothing about it and why troons seem to latch onto it so much.

Oh shit, SMB2 ain't easy. I wonder if I could tolerate watching that. Has anyone even watched it? (Why does no one speedrun the Super Mario Advance version? controls or physics fubared or something?)

Is it actually remotely competent? although I guess any retard can spend 10000 hours doing some stupid dog trick and get good enough at it.

Well, in case you weren't familiar, it's not the Japanese SMB2, known in the States as the very hard Lost Levels. It's the American SMB2, which is a much easier game.

As to why nobody runs the SMA version, I'd say it's likely due to a couple factors. First, it's probably been harder to record GBA games in general (or any portable games for that matter), having to find a way to output the video to prove your run is legit. Emulation exists, but isn't always perfect. It's gotten easier in recent years, but that would still put a damper on many people's attempts. Compare that to a console game that you can hook up to a capture card easily.

SMB2 is also, naturally, a lot older than SMA, and thus more well known. A lot of people probably forget it even had a GBA port, especially since it came out as a launch title for the system and was later overshadowed by the ports of the more popular games. People would probably rather stick with speedrunning the version they're familiar with instead of picking up a new version that probably has some subtle differences. What those might be, I couldn't say, because I don't have nearly enough autism to dig any deeper.

As to whether John's run is competent, it's...adequate, I guess? It's a few seconds faster than his previous Peach-only run on the Super Mario All-Stars port of SMB2, but considering that the fastest time across all versions is over two minutes faster, there'd certainly be room to improve. The mod beat him by almost thirty seconds in the GBA version, so he's got a ways to go if he wants to get his pathetic little crown back.

So yeah, if John wants to waste hours of his life trying to play through a video game a few seconds faster, all for some semblence of self-satisfaction, whatever. He'll never be able to actually hold a record without a dozen asterisks after the fact, no matter how much of Frank's money he blows on expensive hardware for that frame-accurate experience.

Adding to this autism with my own:
The GBA is a finicky mother fucker.
GB/GBC carts were very standard and the most you usually needed to account for is later carts having had a Real Time Clock included. The 8-bit CPU of the GB didn't have enough oomph to really do much else other than really load new sprite pallets.

The GBA had a 32-bit CPU that could leverage a greater array of custom cart hardware. In addition to this, the GBA's hardware has a GBC hybridized into it - they placed anything the GBA couldn't do into its own separate hardware space, and the hardware is able to use GBA components where it can, and calls in the GBC hardware where it can't. its actually really neat, but it increases emulator complexity because you have to see if the game is going to make calls to that hardware and what its expecting to get back.
The GBA also had "autosave" functionality (where games would update the battery-backed up RAM). This plus the fact that carts were allowed to have non-standard chips on them also means for some GBA carts you can't just do a ROM-dump to get all the data you need to recreate the game.

Most emulators deal with this by the fact there's a finite quantity of GBA games, so you just have a list of all the GBA games and any custom settings they need (as well as some uniqueness in the game data to ID it ) and you load those custom settings when the game gets selected.

The GBA also was a little less popular, or I guess I should say made less of an impression on autistic children, so you have few people dedicated to recreating it. This plus the 3DS/New 3DS/2DS having a (semi-hidden) GBA hardware emulator has really undermined the GBA emu scene.

You can find a bunch of GB/GBC ROM carts - all you need is a RTC and you're golden. There are only a few GBA ones of any quality, and even then they often have some games they don't handle well.

Anyway, the reason why this matters is a lot of speed runs require access to glitches and if you can't model the hardware/ROM interaction perfectly, you can't recreate those glitches.
