"I'll be talking about this and the end of Roe.."

Why?
You have no legal training - you aren't qualified from a legal perspective
you never had the ability to get pregnant - you can't speak to it from a lived experience as we women
you aren't out as trans - so you can't talk about how it effect "us trannies"
you have never held an elected position - so you can't talk about it as a political functionary

just stick to your lane and talk about addiction to drugs and social media
"As the biggest victim of GAMERGATE, I...."
"As a software engineer..."
"As someone who has hired thousands of women..."
"I grew up in Mississippi, so I know..."
"A lot of people don't know this, but I collect pinballs and porsches..."

grrrr I'm still steaming MAD! FUCK YOU house nigg,er Justice Thomas for having the audacity to regulate John's mangina.

So he's going to be talking about something that's already the law?

I know, I know, there's ways around it and I'm not sure there's a constitutional way to prevent it, but I'm saying I'm imagining this is one of those "nuanced" John takes where he doesn't want to take away tax exempt status for churches even though that's a more honest position because it's one he knows he'd get blowback from in his circles so he's going for the "we just outlaw the conservative churches" stance that makes him sound more authoritarian than the honest position. (Obviously not to idiots like John and Dean who think they're liberals.)

Literally crying and shaking because John won't be able to terminate his pregnancy if he is raped by a nigg,er.

So furious and scared that he can barely sleep.

Well his husband is... no, I got in trouble with the jannies last time I made a joke about Frank being a PHD MD JD. The last one was false apparently.
He is a Ph.D. and a patent agent. He is not, as John falsely claims, a lawyer, nor does he have a J.D., nor is he an M.D. Frank, not being nearly as much of a hopeless pathological liar as John, does not himself make this fraudulent claim, which it would be a crime to make if he were holding himself out as an attorney without a license to practice.

He is, however, a registered patent agent, #41,386.

Being a hard science Ph.D. qualified to act as a patent agent is no shoddy accomplishment, by the way, it's just that he is specifically not a lawyer, but for some reason John feels the need to claim this falsely.

Well shit, explains why his troon wife can afford a bunch of sweet pinball machines. We know she's not bringing in any scratch.

"We yell at each other because we're the only ones listening."

Youre the only ones listening because you people are insane emotional wrecks. A close family member of mine is very upset with the decision. She broached the topic with me, and just my asking "should elective abortion be legal at 8.9 months?" sent it off the rails. Wouldnt answer the question. Diverted into all kinds of histrionics. Every simple, straight forward question had the same results. I decided there was not fruitful discussion to be had.

It gets funnier when they bring up that "and you can't even abort rape babies!" now despite plenty of States having laws on the books saying just so.

She brought up "health of the mother." Unfortunately, I didnt know at the time that *every* state with a trigger ban has a "health of the mother" exception, so instead I went with "that's incredibly rare" (which it is), admitted I think there should be an exception for that, and "why not C-section it?" Again, histrionics.

They all have their fetishes, be it positronic brains, human subspecies or A/R ubiquity
I don't worry too much about recurring themes or archetypes and those sorts fo thing as there's a lot of worldbuilding in scifi and I find the revisitation part of either the refinement or exploration of that.
I sort of suspect the fetish comes from his being a marine mammal biologists and the "charismatic macrofauna" as we call them aren't really so cuddly when you get to know em. I read it as when you get to this level along that evolutionary line you get these opponent actors which I thought tied into the whole theme on conciousness as a parasitic property well.

I want to be clear here. When I say fetish, I don't mean a SciFi flogging horse - every author has those, I have those.
When I say fetishes I mean the dude some pretty fucked up sexual fetishes re:Gore(surgical) that he jams into his stories for no good reason (other then I assume he could "research" them and write off DVDs, kleenex, and jergins as business expenses). He also name drops weird S&M resources for weird anachronisms; no one wrote anything better over the next 50 years?
Blindsight had these toned down, but I had just marathoned his deepwater trilogy (excuse given: younger, stupider, "Well I read this far, I want to see how it ends") where that shit was a major plotpoint from the 2nd book on before starting blindsight, so I was well and fully primed to look for his weird torture fetish and it is present in the Soldier Girl (her backstory prinicpally), SysopsBro & MultiPersonalites, and Vampire Mission commander. Probably flies under the radar if you haven't just finished reading his most out-there wank material.
That's in addition to his dumb ass need to cram in Vampires for ??? and make it related to Assbergers because that was the hottopic of the day.

He certainly does alright, he's work at firms like MoFo and he's been in the game for like 25 years - it's hard to say since he's in house (not at a law firm) now so it can be more discretionary and he could have company equity.
OTOH it may be why bri bri has to lie about him being an atty in bribriworld - Patent law has kind of a double glass ceiling...PhD and being an atty (just a JD isn't really helpful, you need to be licensed to practice)
either one sort of tops you out.
The PhD part is somewhat of a prestige part - what I mean someone's doctoral research is super-hyper focused and it's very often not directly related to the new tech you are working with in patents - often not at all. Like how Bri crows about Frank saving the world through COVID vax, but frank is a bacterial geneticist. In firm work it's important for clients. BUT it is functionally valuable in that a PhD really knowing the research process soup-to-nuts..it's sort of "I speak wetlab"
The atty part is more of a brightline thing. An agent can only prosecute patents (basically write em and submit them to the USPTO) but all the stuff around that, legal opinions like Freedom-to-operate, TIP (transactional IP, contracts and whatnot), patent litigation (or any litigation), other areas of IP like trademark, copyright trade secrecy are out-of-bounds. A lot of attys might not do tons of that, esp with big institutional clients. on the regular, but it does come up as being able to offer "full service" and interface on a peer level with in-house contract guys etc.

In-house is often a good move for an agent since they aren't partner track in firm life. It can tend to be a little more of a lifestyle job as you are a bit more of a cog in terms of doing what comes across your desk. Firm work has more chasing your "book of business", you are usually working with multiple clients and while YOU may be salaried (there is pretty heavy bonus/performance eval though) - the work is billed by time...like in 6 minute increments! -- for the first 5 years or so, associates freak out at the feast or famine feel of that "hourly" work cycle and have to be talked down "your career isn't falling apart, it's christmas and everyone is drinking instead of getting back to you with their notes." then 3 months later they are freaked out and swamped as everyone is giving talks and need a provisional filed in 24 hours.

It'd be a wild-ass guess, but maybe $200k-$350k. If he were an atty at a firm he'd prob be north of 500 at this point
