How is a $125 tire "unsafe"? How is a new tire less safe than an old tire? The majority of vehicles, if not all by this point, are shipping with H rated tires, so they are sturdy enough to run at 130mph for 10 minutes. That would be about 30 full revolutions per second for a 17in rim and 3 inches of tire.
Even that Tahoe requires H rated tires. So do all minivans. Some minivans want V rated (149mph for 10 minutes) as do a number of family sedans (hyundai sonata runs on v rated tires.) The tires he mentions would probably be worse for the majority of people anyway (summer tires that wear out very quickly).
If he wants to brag about running some super expensive soft compound for his racecar driving, he can do that without his stupid PSA.
