The headtilt to hide the jawline, blocky glasses as a distraction, the overexposure, the grainy quality: it's like I stepped back in time seven years. At least now I understand why he remains so camera-shy, this picture probably took him hours figuring out a pose that didn't immediately look like his skin was falling off, and then he spent more time throwing filters at it to try and mitigate what the ring lights couldn't cover up.

By the way, he's still using this picture on his long-forgotten Patreon, including as the header, so you get to see John's soulless eyes staring at you as soon as you head to the page. Years later, he still has 61 people giving him $254 a month, despite not making games badgering others to make games for him for the better part of a decade.

I've heard it also has to do with refresh rate. I don't get the issue myself, but have heard some odd things can aleviate the symptoms. Like putting a cage around the person seems to remove motion sickness. Guessing a rigid frame is a good focus spot or something.

What an exceptional opinion to have. And I don't mean that I think he's wrong, I think that he's not even internally consistent in what kind of wrong he is.
He says that it is sexist that only attractive women get to use their attractiveness to get ahead. This is so dumb on so many levels it's hurting my brain. "Getting ahead" intrinsically implies a competitive situation; this means that there is an underlying value hierarchy which serves as a way to determine who "gets ahead". There is no "getting ahead" in non-competitive situations, it wouldn't make any sense.
In this case, he complains that the underlying value structure is sexist because it advantages traditionally attractive women over uglier/older women.
I'm not even going to complain about the fact that this argument is dumb in itself (it's not sexist because handsome men are also at an advantage, it's just the halo effect and normal human biology and social psychology) because that's not the point, I'm going to mock him for not even being able to make his actual point: he meant to say that it's unfair for attractive people to be the only ones to be effective at using their sex appeal for their own gain.
But of course it's unfair, John. If we lived in a society where sex and attractiveness were somehow equally distributed, then there would be no point in trying to "get ahead" by being sexier than the competition. It's self defeating, if anyone could sell you sexiness then sexiness would be worthless, you dumb dumb man. You can't be pro getting ahead by using your attractiveness and be anti attractiveness as a concept. Or maybe he wanted to say that competitive spaces shouldn't exist and everything should be equal all the time but I think pro gamergrill John walker is not that kind of guy so I lean on the idea that he's just a simpleton that can't string two sentences together without contradicting himself.
But also, since the actual argument he wanted to make was that it was unfair for attractive people to have a leg up in everything, then let's be intellectualy honest and take it at face value and make fun of it by paraphrasing : "It's ok that basketball players use their stature to dunk the ball but it's unfair that only tall players get to do it".
Also worth pointing out that he's so unsophisticated in his own argument that he just defaults to sexist when something feels unfair to him. "It feels like somethings up, I can't reall describe it but it must be against women somehow" kind of room temp IQ thinking.
Also also, you can really tell he's a dude because when he has to make a decision for or against something that makes him feel like it's unfair but makes his peepee hard, he's completely for it. What a man.

The Dems ran the whitest possible ticket they could muster in 2016 and still got something like 90% of the Black vote (and 70% of the hispanic vote and 80% of the Asian vote) and lost due to underperforming among white voters. I wish this "we can't win without token pee-oh-see candidates!" meme would die. Sometimes, the best, most competent candidate happens to be a white guy. Biden got rammed through the primaries on the strength of being the Black dude's veep and Harris got shoehorned onto the ticket by virtue of being Black and look how well that turned out: only one year into Biden/Harris's term and even Dem ultra-loyalists know that they've got a losing ticket going into 2024 unless something changes dramatically.
