Wu appeared on TWiT again a week ago. She talked about her not actually going to happen Gamergate TV series.

I always enjoy Wu talking sideways around inconvenient facts, for example the fact that nobody is actually going to want to produce this irrelevant load of tosh. Apparently the idea is that Wu (or an actor playing Wu? it's not entirely clear) is supposed to narrate the thing. It sounds absolutely awful.

Also, that Che Guevara beret. Oh my god. I take it by Wu's sudden fascination with wearing hats indoors that the hairline battle is now thoroughly lost. Just another sad reminder that you can't cheat biology.

what John's o about is that NFTs use blockchains to validate the ownership.so it participates in the bloackchains the same way currency does (the blockcains are kind of abstracted, so for example it's common to use Etherium)

A couple things about that though
It can be a bit difficult to calc what the individual impact is in that sort of distributed and comingled market...sort of like figuring the exact footprint of Jon taking a plane vacatin to the magic kingdom is

John also fails to mention (because the article in whatever rag he's listening to through audible) didn't really cover Etherium and BTC are using proof-of-work systems , but blockcains like Flow use a "proof of stake" system...which isn't the brute force calculation of PoW that the older systems are using. Flow was actually developed in response to the NFT stuff getting popular.

There is also Chia which uses a proof of space (storage) system instead of proof of work, but again, John doesn't know about that

FWIW Etherium is moving toward proof of stake validation too.

The tech changes, running proof of work in the near future will be like running an old car with primitive emissions control from th 1980s

I wonder why someone doesn't just quote john with his 'I hate to break it do ou, but... it really would require government action to really do anything'...line like he says to excuse himself from any personal responsibility for his choices

I think the long and the short of it is he's trying to grandstand to distract from his own anti-environmental hobbies
chia churns through SSDs and electricity and cant really offer anything except miners fighting over new markets. PoS is a wholly different concept and leads to feds grabbing full control of the network with no way to take it back, even with superior power. PoW is the only true blockchain tech.

It would be nice if there were something useful that could serve as PoW but most of the suggestions are impractical. One of my favorites is SETI, but the work needed fails the general test of PoW, i.e. that it has to be difficult actually to do, but trivially easy to verify. The only real way to verify SETI results is to do exactly the same work again.

There's apparently some kind of token for Folding@Home but I don't think it's really taken off. Maybe that's easier to verify work on or maybe it's an ill-thought-out shitcoin.

Has John put some wierd filter on his webcam too? His face looks really plasticky and oversaturated.

He should just hire a mortician/embalmer to do his makeup

As if the show wouldn't be enough of a trainwreck, John narrating it with his Kermit-on-crack voice would be the ass-cherry on the shit sundae.

Has the a light ring right in her face, hasn't done anything about the white balance either and of course still has autofocus on for good measure.

It looks like he's got at least three ringlights illuminating that horrorshow face. The overexposed chin and cheek implants are quite attractive in that light, as are the bright reflections flashing off his glasses.

And I can't wait till Johnny finally admits defeat and buys a collection of cheap wigs. Considering his aggressive incompetence at walking, talking, dressing, and using makeup like a real woman, I expect that he'll frequently be mistaken for Bozo the Drag Queen Clown.

these seticoins are basically just etherum tokens awarded centrally or smth like this. closest thing to useful is filecoin, but it is very complicated and not sure how useful it is in practice.

PhD in Theatre? Multiple Tony Award winner John Walker Flynt has one of those, let him explain.

How dare a teenager have to relive the most traumatic experience of his life in full vivid detail.

John is such a liar he's completely incapable of recognizing sincerity. That's mildly ironic, since he's also completely incapable of faking sincerity too.

John is apparently basing his conclusions about how people cry on his observations of Frank weeping as he gazes across the pillows his six-foot-five, castrated, psychopathic Nosferatu of a husband.

The fact he hasn't got rid of John indicates to me he actually has a fetish for cockless giants that rivals his desire to fuck aquatic cephalopods or whatever.

If the feds, or a warlord, or whomever can jack your blockchained assets doesn't really address the environmental issue that Johnnie was making at all. That's more about how sovereign we think it is .
I mean shit, (powerlevel) If our comms are going across waveguide nd other infrastructure (including power) then we are already under the thumb.

I don't know much about proof of storage, does it require that it runs on SSDs (as opposed the HDDs) etc and are they toast?
(do they ever use slack space, etc instead of whole farms. I always kinda wonder that about Proof of work too...anyone tried to harness the puzzles for brute force calcs of some utility?)

do we have an idea of what the relative power consumption is?
Like me just typing about this also burns power, but is it on the same league as the other solutions?
