Regulars in the Sperg about Comic Books thread could probably tell you better, but basically mainstream comics have mostly been infected with dangerhairs and SJWs, and instead of capitalising on the success of superhero movies have instead published years upon years of comics pushing their agenda (including changing races, sexualities and genders).

So as they have gone woke, they are in the process of going broke. Numbers have declined immensely, the people that are happy are, as usual, not the ones that actually buy the comics, and your usual whining about the inherent misogyny, racism, homophobia, transphobia, etc. is being trotted out by the same people who never, ever seem to realise that, aside from being political screeds disguised as superhero entertainment, they don't actually have talent and the comics they're making aren't actually good. But no, it's the alt-right Nazis to blame, not that a bunch of SJWs who came up through fan-fiction and have very little actual talent are shown to be cheaper to hire and won't get them attacked by journalists and other terminally online fuckwits.

Tl;dr: Sales are very bad. The SJW market they constantly say they're appealing to is fictional. The only thing this sort of thing spurs is headlines and further fights in the culture wars, because these are people who cannot create, they can only destroy.

Well, here's a fairly good indicator of exactly how the American comic book industry is doing:

For comparison at this point estimates for American comic book sales in 2020 were ~$1.28 billion, where as in Japan the manga industry has sales more around ~$5.77 billion. The thing is that those American sales also include a large portion Japanese manga sales in the US; in fact there hasn't been an American comic to breach the top 20 in terms of sales in the US since February. So even the comics selling in the US are mainly weeb shit.

I don't read comics and I shower more than once a week so I certainly don't read manga, but it seems like comics are afflicted by the same thing that's currently dragging videogames down (note how many rat kings are involved in both); once a counter cultural medium starts going mainstream, it attracts lefty sorts like mad who have no sense of identity aside from what they consume, which in turn attracts grifters, and together they subvert/monetize the medium until anyone with genuine talent or passion (who made the medium popular to begin with) has left and the industry becomes a husk. Then the consumers leave to infect whatever new trend talented/passionate people have made popular, the grifters follow them, and the medium is left to slowly regrow and repeat the process again some day.
If that isn't called "cultural gentrification" I vote that it should be.

I find it rather hypocritical that John makes such a big deal about it when he himself denies being trans. Like, okay, LGBTQLOLBBQ rights, fine, but the person saying it is ashamed to admit that he falls under that umbrella himself. What’s wrong with being trans, Brianna?
