I'm reminded of Mrs. Haversham from Great Expectations and how she's some shriveled up woman who has been stuck living in a single moment (getting dumped by her fiancé on their wedding day) for literal decades until her rotting mansion burns the fuck down around her.

Kind of the same thing with Wu here. Gamergate was their golden age. News outlets! Radio Shows! Printed articles! The world was groveling at Wu's feet - all attention was on them begging for their next opinion. It seemed like the world actually gave a shit about this person existing.

Then what little of the world moved on as Gamergate slowly petered out as the real people keeping it moving on the anti's side basically left the industry, got shamed out of it, or otherwise fell into irrelevancy. And with it went any reason for Wu to be a person of interest to the media (especially after the laughably bad Gamergate SVU episode). It is a testament to how pathetic Wu truly is that the only real meaning they seem to cling to is trying to reignite a scandal (IN THE MIDDLE OF A FUCKING PANDEMIC) all just to get another 15 minutes of fame.
 
Given that bigotry = prejudice + power and these people have far more influence and institutional power than I do, I'd say that harassing them is completely okay and they shouldn't be allowed to harass internet randos back. It's only fair. It's their rules.

I could believe that Frank would hunt down information on some twitter rando and send a threatening email to them, but John's far too lazy for that. It feels like the usual crab in a bucket mentality is taking over and John's pathetic stab at relevance is bringing out all the cry bullies looking for their 15 minutes of fame.

I don't like this idea that you shouldn't cover something because it's old but not too old. Gamergate changed a lot about internet culture at the time. It sprung forth from the early "skeptics" movement on YouTube, basically fracturing that community into unrecognition. Basically every mainstream individual on the right in the last 8 years got their start there.

I think no matter your political affiliation you should find this interesting. That said I don't know who Brianna Wu is, so perhaps she isn't the best person to be telling this story.

Since Gamergate (2014) I started working as a game developer, got credited on 5 released titles, watched Unreal 5 and the Substance suit make several of my skill-sets obsolete (but in a good way - the old fashioned way fucking sucks), had the company I was working for get bought/mergered by other companies twice, worked on a few absolute stinkers that were financial failures, quit my job to work on indie stuff, tried to learn how to be a concept artist, moved countries, and started a freelance business that may or may not bankrupt my ass.
If John Flynt actually did game development he wouldn't have time to still be seething about people calling him a fraud on Twitter.

Pretty fucking pathetic...its why I tell people that the left wont let go of January 6 because if they havent let go of GamerfuckingGate for over 8 years, you can bet they will be talking about 1/6 for the decades to come. They just "hug" these "events" and dont fucking let go no matter what.
