Pretty much yeah, it's similar to when my first nephew got his first shots. First time he felt real pain so he cried and sulked for hours. Their's also the rush of being incredibly angry and horrible to a complete stranger online GG allowed them to rationalize.
 
I still dont know what GamerGate is about, despite being on reddit at the time. Its always been background noise that felt so detached from the real world that it wasnt worth attention.

This is how totalitarian regimes are enabled and i shall be on my guard from now on.

Edit: i just read the wikipedia page (edit locked ofc) and the sincerity has confirmed what i suspected; its retarded.

I'm doubtful that John will ever see a penny from this fly-by-night production company. My guess is that the script is being written on spec or that some other dodge is being employed to avoid paying any money upfront.

The Wikipedia page alone's history is morbidly fascinating, their's an entire cabal of turbo autists in eternal vigil to ensure it stays an polemic which is longer than a larger than many irl events for example the life and murder of prominant uk media figure jill dando or serial rapist andrzej kunowki. They're still subtly tinkering with it after 8 years

She’s a “game developer” with one (incredibly BAD) game under her belt, that others actually made for her.

She’s got her weirdo gay/tranny chaser hubby to pay the bills, buy everything else she has ever done has been a failure.

Gamergate horse shoe theory: Sargon is Brianna Wu in drag. Both involved in gamergate, both attempted political careers, both exist on the scoial fringes of their political ideologies, both have desperatly tried to remain relevant by re-igniting gamer gate.

Also both are annoying as fuck.

Someone from presumably here or 4chan once described Gamergate as an "Autism holy war". I've never heard of a more succinct and accurate description of anything before in my life. It was certainly fascinating to watch unfold at it's peak, but damn that was nearly a decade ago now. John citing Gamergate as an important factor in his life today, especially when there is ample evidence that much of his harassment was self inflicted (and indeed that he injected himself into the controversy deliberately), is like clinging to some high school era achievement you once had. It's utterly irrelevant to everyone else and a completely pathetic reminder that John has done absolutely nothing noteworthy in the last 8 years and hasn't grown as a person (potbelly notwithstanding).

This caused me to ponder about Gamergate in retrospect, admittedly it's hard to cast my mind back 8 years.

Autism holy war might be overstating it but it certainly became very autistic, with more of a political flavour than a vidya one. It was more akin to how different political sides interact online today, how both sides try to gotcha each other. It was a proto version of what would be Alt Right v Left during the 2016 election. Lots of people trying to score points against the other, different people chiming in and picking sides, optics, where do you stand, etc etc. It was very petulant, each group taking he least charitable meaning of what the other side said and spinning it to rile up their own group. Perhaps saying it paved the way for this type of black and white discourse might sound incorrect to more mature people who have been through this political shitflinging in the past. But it definitely felt like we reached the point where both sides knew they were being disingenuous yet they not longer cared, as long as it scored a point for them, it didn't matter.

At first it felt like the dying breath of /v/ raging against trying to turn Videogames into an artform. Tired of QTE pseudo-moviegames. The fact that it was against soy indie devs made it a convenient vehicle for /pol/ to also rage and they eventually took over. Anons on /v/ warned people of this possibility 1 or 2 days in but even in a very short time /pol/ was already on board.
I will say you are correct, John inserted himself into this debacle wholeheartedly, he was basically a nobody before this. He loves Gamergate because it put him on the map so to speak. But I will say Gamergate takes a lot of blame too, they set up the perfect environment for John/Anita to springboard off this and for Zoe it gave her an even easier out to preserve her reputation.

To be honest I have a lot of thoughts on how Gamergate was merely a snapshot of a lot of problems we see today in social media, I had a lot more paragraphs typed out but I already feel embarrassed I ever participated in it and I don't want to shit up the thread. People are going to eat up this Gamergate series, John will continue to milk it for as long as it's relevant, I would say it's even more relevant today than it was 8 years ago. He's not going away anytime soon.
 
Zoe will need either multiple actors or a very dedicated method actor to portray her progressively getting fatter over the course of the series
