Yeah, I'm calling bullshit. Unless she was stupid enough to get phished or logged in on a public computer somewhere, or she's just lying about having turned on TFA.

Wukkieleaks when?
Putting aside the fact that this looks like an obvious phishing email, even if it WAS a legit notification that someone in the Russian Fed. tried to log in that doesn't imply "election interference". That would just imply that Sergei and his botnet may have tried some shit in an attempt to pick off poorly secured accounts. If your email has been used anywhere to set up some kind of account there's a chance that the username/pass combo for that account (though not that of the email address) has been leaked into the underbelly of the net and occasionally you'll get someone poking your email just to check and see.

It will be great if he gets a few geographically disparate notifications as that could cause him to greatly inflate his self importance (even more than it is already) because "all these countries are trying to interfere with my campaign reeeeeeee"

Fucking hell he really thinks the Russians are trying to stop him.

"Electoral interference" hahahahahahhskjshfajglsfkagbafkj

aaaaannnd... she's just realised that she's made a huge fuss over receiving a phishing email and deleted the whole twitter sperg out. But she'll have more information on monday, guys.

I really hope that he clicked the link in the email.

"Alt-right Russian GrigoriyGorbachevs have drained my bank account! Fortunately, I'm expecting a sizeable donation from a foreign donor in Nigeria to help me get my political campaign back on track."

Anyone archive/cap them? I only got 5-10.

As a federally elected official I promise to immediately take emails at face value and with no information what so ever publicly blame foreign governments through social media and then beg the public for advice on how to handle things like an adult.

Just had a look at my own emails, and that was very definitely a phishing mail. The footer is based on an older style of email, and official Apple support mails start with "Dear <firstname> <lastname>,"

So, yeah. Software engineer Wu just had a giant freakout over fucking nothing.

- Thinks an automated e-mail from Apple is proof that Russians are trying to hack him
- Posts his personal apple ID to the Internet

Brianna "please assume I know what I'm talking about" Wu

lmao what a fucking joke.

She deleted the whole thread, claiming that tech support asked her to. Why would tech support know about what she is tweeting about, and ask to delete every tweet she previously wrote about it? Instead of the one containing the pic revealing her apple ID?

It was considerate of them to ask she delete any embarrassing speculations

Anyway, if it really were Russian hackers they wouldn't be logging in from a Russian IP address. I dunno if Apple tech support has a habit of hiding the exact IPs of login attempts, covering up with just the name of the country so there's enough info to scare you. I know phising mail authors have a good reason to do that, since a raw IP address wouldn't mean anything for 99% of apple customers.

EDIT: As for the phishing mail being "sophisticated", what else was needed to compose it besides her email and apple ID?

"Someone has created a sophisticated phishing attempt that involves sending fake TFAs to your phone, and sending spoof emails in your name."

Oh holy Jesus. Wait until he gets babby's first Nigerian prince of the moon email.

I do not understand how one man can get himself into so much trouble within the limitations of 140 characters or less.

They wouldn't which means someone should archive this hilarious back peddling. Who am I kidding a half dozen people already did.

The plot thickens...

the tale gets more ridiculous.png

Come on now, what conceivable purpose would sending fake TFA codes to your phone have?

Were now being asked to believe the following:

  1. Wu fell for a phishing attack (OK, fine, that one is believable.)
  2. The phishing attack was tailored specifically to Wu, in that they knew her phone number as well as email, but they didn't bother to address her by name in the email.
  3. Rather than MitM'ing the login request through to the real Apple site to generate a legitimate TFA SMS that they could then use to actually log in to Wu's account, they generated fake TFA messages that they sent to her... for some reason? I don't even know.
This is mind boggling levels of bullshit. I think she's just spinning lies to cover her embarrassment.
