I think Tim Pool had a good take on this: The trial is in San Francisco. His history showed him to be a lefty, so his lawyer could have told him "just blame it on a bunch of 'right wing' meme personalities/phenomena brainwashing you, for sympathy points."

Or hell, why don't you have a spool of cable, connectors, and a crimper so you can make your own? don't you remember Bri solders everything to NASA standards in his cars...that was, of course, before people pointed out: The splice he was using isn't included in the NASA standards, NASA standards are really comprehensive and include tool certification and I think lighting, oh - and that due to thermal and mechanical stress crimping (NASA also has a standard for that) is often preferred
John seems to have retired that bit of sloganeering after he got busted on it
