Super funny, John!!!!! This is why Rebellion PAC is changing lives by being the most influential PAC in the business.

It's Christmas time! Let's humorously accuse Santa's wife of being a member of a brutal terrorist organization that would rejoice at the chance to slit the throat of every Christian child on the planet. Holidays John is hilarious.

And John is an engineer and a journalist. That's why he knows that uranium is a proper noun and should always be capitalized. Imbecile.

Yikes, a red hat! A FASCIST! Trying to steal the World Series Trophy like they almost did our democracy!

Government colluding with big tech to suppress information? Literal nothingburger!!! Giant corporations and state-level censorship exist because they care about our safety.

Why would I think either of these two people would be able to answer either of these two questions? I don't even need to listen to this and I already know exactly what their answers are going to be, with zero evidence for either, and I already know they're going to be the same as all the other people who said them immediately.

They're probably big mad that Musk pulled in 100k on his Twitter Space and they want even a single drop of that clout. I'll be surprised if they pull 100.

Duder! That's totes reactionary.
She's obviously just trying to EAT it
Look, trying to body-shame someone thinner than herself gives a girl between-snacks hunger pangs
you can't keep up a healthy 125% body fat with just salads and exercise, you have to put in the work

And here comes criticism number one

All they're going to do is talk shit about Elon Musk..... and GamerGate due to Brianna Wu involved.

IIRC, there was a historical book published in recent memory which claimed the American colonies had very few guns. It turned out to be fraudulent from the get-go, claiming access to courthouse records that didn't exist. The problems with the book were not found by historians, but by an NRA lawyer.
Last I heard, the author was still working in a college history department.

That was over 20 years ago.
(that said I do remember it)
Even Wikipedia calls it "discredited."

The last place I can find that he worked was Trinity College in Hartford although he is neither listed on their faculty page nor in their emeritus faculty page.

Incidentally it is ridiculous it was even taken seriously for a minute, much less given a prestigious award (the Bancroft Prize). It should have immediately raised suspicions, because at least of the voting population, largely consisting of landowning white males, it was virtually obligatory to have some kind of weapon or multiple weapons to protect the property. Much as today, these would range from varmint rifles to something for humans.

And to the contrary of the kind of argument this fake history was meant to support, these were "military grade" weapons and in fact, would generally be the very weapons men would bring to use in the militia if they were called up by the state to serve (the military largely operated at the state level and actually having a standing army during peacetime is a relative novelty).

Yes, that's it. The chief takeaway is that a mildly critical reader could never have fallen for it, yet it was widely accepted by historians.
Among the absurd claims it made, the numbers it published clearly indicated that most of the guns were in Massachusetts, yet it never explained why one colony was so heavily armed (hint: MA records were better than most other colonies, and while the author could not deny there were a lot of weapons there he could claim that was unusual).
It's actually surprising how many mainstream history texts fall into similar traps, printing tables of data and drawing obviously mistaken conclusions from them. I am not, by and large, impressed by academic historians.

A lot of it is like a drunk looking for his car keys under a streetlight. They might not be there, but it's the only place he can see anything.
Trust the experts!!!
Which also makes John's statement here look retarded. Yes, historians work from original sources, because that's what they have. Guess what the victors do with any data that discredits them, given the opportunity to do so?

GiantSpaceKat could afford to give programmers $1 before telling them to fuck off without credit, surely you could have spared a couple of quarters for an artist or a composer.
Also kindly welcome Concert Pianist John to the pantheon of dickless headmates.

Remember the feminist who wrote the whole book about how Britain was executing fags left and right and someone who actually knew their shit corrected her live on air "Um, actually Death Recorded means the judge determined they didn't deserve capital punishment"

That at least is plausibly an honest mistake.
Honest errors in history seem to be inescapable. I recently saw a YouTube documentary which stated in World War II, the Allies and Germans had different definitions for "One of our tanks was destroyed."

Yeah, but usually you catch that error before making it one of the central arguments of your whole damn thesis. I seem to recall that book being pulped, the mistake was so egregious.

This asshole is so unlikeable. Just constantly posting the dumbest fucking takes about everything. What does he do for a living? I saw the game made by his studio, and that shit would be shameful for an autistic high-schooler developing it in his free time. How does someone so retarded own multiple Porsches? People are saying this "Frank" person supplies them, for some ungodly reason? This is all so bizarre.

Just a guess : Go on a hissy fit rampage when Elon Musk gets access to the "Trust & Safety council" ivory tower?
No, that's what the LOSERS do. Musk is the winner here. He gets to decide what to release of what he now OWNS.

Dude he does literally nothing. He sucks a rich chink's dick. That's what he does. Some wealthy SFWA pervert bankrolled him getting his cock cut off to turn him into a wife and now owns him, and keeps him as a pet and pays for all his ridiculous flights of fancy.

For internet shit posting, yes. Not for a published volume.
The guy who corrected her wasn't even a victorian justice specializing historian, just one who had been through the UK uni system. If she had bothered to get any actual UK historian to review her work for accuracy during writing, it would have been quickly caught.

This is like some britbong writing a book on America and proclaiming New York as the nation's capital. It shows the person doesn't actually know shit about what they are writing about.

You recall incorrectly.

Facts and real history were inconvenient obstacles to her narrative.

'Wolf said she appreciated Sweet’s “important correction”, but rejected the idea that it challenged the main thrust of her book. '

You recall incorrectly.
I have to maintain my foolish optimism on this place, or the MovieBob thread alone would have driven me to jumping off the Chrysler Building years ago.
