How much does John weigh? 135 pounds? 140? Considering how much he claims to work out, he -- even if he were a real woman -- should be able to bench 115 to 125 pounds with no trouble at all. Once again he unintentionally reveals that he's an out-of-shape slob.

I would just like to emphasize how ridiculous Wu’s claims are here. I come from a crew family, and at 6’ 3” am the short guy of my brothers and cousins.

As Ralph mentions above the momentum used to drive an oar forward is produced by the legs and body core, the arms just transfer the power into the water. Still you need upper body strength to continuously transfer the energy.

But anyone who has worked out” literally for decades” including rowing workouts can’t press 100?

Here is a table of female press weights (giving John the benefit of the doubt that estrogen has made him into a dainty little girl). An intermediate lifter at 148lbs should be doing 100lbs no problem.
