He never does. He will only directly reply to someone either to suck up to them if they're a twitter celebrity or to chastise them but only if the person is a nobody. Whenever he has anything spicy to say to anyone with any leverage he will quote tweet them and not @ them so that they litterally can't respond. He's that much of a coward.
Remember, if you prevent your opponents from ever speaking, you win automatically. It's the liberal thing to do.

I do not know if someone bought it or not, but the domain is less than worthless. A few old links is not enough to make it valuable. Now the new owner might try to sell it back to JF, but I doubt it. The entire thing is dead.
The domain only had value to John when he was playing software developer. He has put that game back on the shelf now. No one else will want it.

I guess I explained that poorly.

Domain name has some value, it gets bids from the low tier squatters. As its getting bids from the low tier, the whalers see that this the website of a company that has had CNN articles written about it, links from steam to the developer site - not knowing anything about John and assuming (wrongly) he's a competent business owner, he'll clearly want to buy his domain back. So they start bidding, price goes up, more whalers figure its a valuable catch and that's how the bidding goes above $1000, far more than its worth to anyone.

You are completely correct about the squatters being very unlikely to see a return on their investment. The game developer larp is over, GiantSpaceKat has a lot of negative press and reviews. John won't have Frank pay the squattergeld.
If John was not as dumb of a bitch as he is, I would say that this part of the plan:
Let domain expire -> OH NOES EVIL SQUATTERS HAVE MY DOMAIN, guess I'll need $20,000 patreon & internet dollars to make a new company & website -> TY for you support, here's why its important that I get back into politics

I don't think it's really hacking when the instructions for doing something are provided by the manufacturer and involve swapping out an SD card.

I guess John's half-witted followers will be impressed. Everyone else will laugh at John's fourth-grader "hacking" skillz.
