WTF? A deprecated IDE? What is he even talking about? The actual code libraries in the app shouldn't be deprecated. Unless it's auto-generating code, the IDE doesn't matter because the underlying code/compiler is standardized.
"No one patches them for cybersecurity vulnerabilities" - THERE IS NO CYBER SECURITY IN AN IDE. It's just the thing you use to write code. You could literally write the whole thing in Windows 95 Notepad and have zero ramifications on security.
John is talking out of his ass on multiple levels. No analysis I've seen on the Iowa app mentions the IDE. KF did our own analysis of it, and the problems had nothing to do with the tooling. This is such a dumb take it doesn't even return a google hit.
Maybe John heard a rumor offline and was just trying to confirm it. But anyone remotely familiar with how coding works wouldn't have sperged about an old IDE, unless they had a very specific issue that a specific IDE might cause. This moron has no such knowledge; he just heard the word "deprecated", and did some word-association mad libs with the policy area where he wants you to believe he has some expertise.
It doesn't need to be reiterated, but: keep this idiot far away from productive people in the tech field.
