3) IRQ select would be a bank of jumpers or microswitches, not just one open/close jumper.

IRQ jumpers were usually on something like a SoundBlaster 16 so you could resolve conflicts with other hardware trying to use the same one. Even those stopped using them before sound cards stopped being standard.

Does Wu think people that code and create software and design circuit boards are somehow in the same fucking universe as far as "engineering"? I really don't get it. It's like asking a pilot about the engineering advantages of the fin blades on his fucking prop. I doubt he'd have anything relevant to add about blade design on his turboprop but I bet he can fucking chart a helluva course on his flight management software and perform a hard landing if the gear doesn't deploy. Different fucking skillets.

Only moronic ass people (and I've posted this before) think that IT isn't usually demarcated into software and hardware specialists. Sure you might have some genius that can re-solder on a new 24 pin EEPROM chip and program it but there might be 100 of those people in the entire world. The skill sets are not usually overlapping. Wu thinks he's a fucking genius programmer and circuit board engineer. It is to laugh, hard.

John is fucking stupid. I know these things but it's not from being an "engineer" it's because at the time these things were common I was a generic hardware monkey who just fixed shit. Plenty of engineers wouldn't know any more about IRQ jumpers than anyone else because that isn't the level of shit they even do.

Yes John it's palpable to me that your heart is heavy from those kids getting blown away in whatever fuck the town was this time, anyway you know what I mean.

John wants people to believe that he was hacking into a BBS in 1983, when he was six years old.

Ambien is a hell of a drug.

What kind of BBSs would he even hack into for his "share"warez? NASA? Or the ones openly advertised with both phone number and country-code in every fucking cracktro at the time and for many years going forward?
The only ones that did some hacking that involved those BBSs were those that got big companies to unknowingly pay for 8 lines to a teens bedroom. I think one group went down because of that, the British equivalent of the "don't copy that floppy" lawyers couldn't get them for piracy but managed to get a conviction for fraud or theft of services or something.

I can feel Frank's retirement fund crying out in pain from across the internet. He can't afford to buy a vintage Ferrari and then pay for the collision repair after it is backed into a bollard mere hours after being driven off the dealer's lot!

Random internet poster: "fast car racing, yes! Fascinating history. Many people with fascinating stories of how they worked so hard to get that extra bit of speed..."

John: "Look at this old Porche! Have I mentioned that I have a Porche?"

Also John: fuck the people, they're boring. Let's talk about me and things I like.

what IRQ settings could you possibly set with three pins and a jumper on two of them? on and off?

There are only three possible settings even if such a thing existed, 1-2, 2-3 and no jumper.

Usually there were multiple jumpers and each one was either on or off, so two sets would be for four possible settings, three for eight, etc.

Whatever this was, it probably wasn't for IRQ settings of anything at all.

A whole 49 signatures; gee, I sure hope some nefarious alt-righters don't get hold of this and start stuffing it with viciously inappropriate messages.

They're up to 64 signatures now. But Wu only set a goal of 100. Does he think that 100 signatures is enough to make a difference? He's even less qualified for office than I thought. And I've always thought he was a shit candidate.

And the petition is addressed to:

HOUSE SPEAKER NANCY PELOSI, MEMBERS OF THE U.S. CONGRESS.

I'm sure John's email will be given careful consideration by all the interns who glance at it and laugh before hitting delete.

ETA: John opens his petition with "Dear Madame Speaker." That should also get a laugh or two.
