The thing is, outside of Twitter and this thread, John doesn't exist so it'll just be a nothingburger, like when he got into it with Shatner and just blocked him and slithered away.

I wish, but Wu does still get mainstream attention, even if there's an ever-so-slight trend towards not just unquestioningly accepting her bullshit. Full articles in actual newspapers, even that thing about spending $3,000 on hair - she still trades on her 'woman in tech who is a victim of evil gamers' role to, yes, diminishing returns, but returns nonetheless.

But you're right that any real confrontation is likely to come to nothing, because the only times she actually tries to pull shit is on Twitter, where there's more control over the narrative. And so far, she's been able to get away with labeling any challenges to her authority as misogyny. She'll keep having minor brush fires, but it would have to be something big and at least somewhat offline, I think, for her to properly be BTFO.

Wu is a journalistic stock photo, something lazy hacks pulls out when they can't be bothered to talk to a real political candidate, a real woman in tech or even a real woman and just like a stock photo model he can be found posing in every occupation or currently relevant situation imaginable.
 
The secret is it's not that hard to drum up a bunch of press when you have nothing you have to do all day and literally every single one of your needs taken care of by someone else. Imagine what you could do with 100% free time.

Yeah, Wu's continued existence as a go-to "expert"/"victim" on all things tech and politics for media outlets, coupled with the fact she still gets asspat patronage from the likes of the Hugo clique of hack writers and hangers on demonstrate beyond any shadow of a doubt how jawdroppingly out of touch and casually uncaring/dishonest this level of media is. The absolute minimum level of investigation or questioning would unravel absolutely everything, even questions as basic as "so what successful examples of your work in politics/media can you show us?" would have her likely have a fucking conniption live on air.

But since the fucking NPC meme is real, journalists just dont ask questions they just meekly nod and uncritically applaud because she has been designated an "important person on the right side of issues" solely because she has declared herself such.

If Wu would inherit stock options and some insurance money after Frank's demise, seeing how good is she at adulthood, how quickly she'd be broke? Years if she'd stick to rent/toys, months if she'd be taken by some shitcoins scam.

My favorite headcanon would be her trying to make a sequel to Rev60 to earn some Rockstar cash!
