Still catching up with the thread, but I was able to catch up with my friend who attended the fundraising event earlier. They were only there for a few minutes at the beginning, so it's not much, but I hope it's still informative.
"She struck me as the sort of eccentric person I generally avoid getting into conversations with at conventions, but not like, outwardly evil or anything."
When I asked them to describe what they meant by that, they said:
"Oh, at conventions like I sometimes run into people who are not like, unpleasant exactly? But just sort of, socially awkward in a way that makes me not want to get caught in a prolonged conversation with them."
"She saw me putting away my laptop and asked what kind of computer it was. I said it was a yoga and showed how it could bend around and stuff, and she said she was a software engineer and knew about that stuff. Then she noticed that I had some video games in the TV cabinet, proceeded to list what each of them were, and then I took the opportunity to ask her what she thought of the Nintendo Direct. She was excited about smash."
"That was the extent of my interaction with her, though me and my sibling returned home briefly while she was saying something about how climate change was 'kicking our butts'."
How was her hygiene (in reference to the black dress, which I mentioned)? Did she pass well?
"Eh, it looked fine to me. If she is trans, I couldn't tell by her voice or appearance."

(This is someone who, when I posted in our group chat the "mayo is a gender" tumblr thing they got upset-ish)

When I showed them the tweet about the event raising $27, they said "I heard it [the event] raised $460, but could've been mistaken." Maybe we'll find out when the finances are posted.
Hopefully this is readable, I tried to make it clear.
