"Why is it that when I broadcast stuff about my life/thoughts people keep responding with their own experiences and ideas?"

It's called a fucking conversation.

Also that tweet from FemFreq complaining about how important pregnancy is in a game where humanity is fighting for survival. Fucking amazing.

It's almost like a game based around mocking 1950s social values doesn't have the best representation of women. Shocking. I'll be on my fainting couch.

Not only that, wouldn't one say doing any sort of strenuous work can have a bad effect on a developing fetus? If a pregnant vault dweller was fighting raiders, she could end up miscarrying the unborn within her. Either way, I'm pretty sure any vault dwellers might run arms in air if they were on fire.

I think the flailing is exaggerated to make a point so the player isn't left wondering why their preggos aren't helping put out the fire. Also, generally speaking, pregnant women's primary concern is their safety and the safety of their child. This is why pregnant police officers aren't asked to remain active when their 9 months pregnant. Its kind of an inbuilt part of the human brain to protect pregnant women. If it wasn't our species probably would have died out by now.

Do the women gain any kind of happiness from being pregnant or giving birth? I don't think it's very feminist of you to ignore their reaction to being with child, Anita.

Why would the pregnant woman risk the child by fighting the fire/cockroaches/rebels ? You can also move people around, so they help another room during disasters.

The point of the game is to fill the vault to its maximum capacity (200 people). So even if that mechanic wasn't there, I would still move the pregnant women out of the room if there's a disaster because it would hinder my progress if she died, and I don't have enough money to revive her and the baby.

So now Gamergate is about solving dispute with ex-spouses? Are you sure it was Gamergate itself who "lectured" you? Was it accompanied by the official Gamergate seal of approval? Did it came from the official Gamergate offices through an official Gamergate email account?

Also "mansplaining" confirmed as "anything a man tells a woman provided that she wants to get offended" (even if the advice was actually for her husband)

I think Anita/Bri just thinks all post apocalypse settings like Mad Max Fury Road and Fallout are super problematic and super troubling because its such a harsh environment that everyone will be vulnerable and, inevitably, women are also going to be portrayed as vulnerable and that just can't happen.

Both have said that showing violence in any way is wrong, that men are violent and women are non violent. And a good pro female game must be non-violent. So any game with a violence component is inherently sexist. Ergo, pregnant women not committing violent acts to fight off scorpions is sexist and--wait what?

Maybe they should play Dwarf Fortress for a truly modern feminist take on pregnant women in gaming.

Female dwarves won't stop fighting for pregnancy and dwarf mothers will even take their babies into battle using them as weapons, shields or flinging them at enemies if they have to (dwarf babies must be pretty chubby because this can cause goblin dismemberment and loss of limbs)

Reading into it, turns out pregnant women in Fallout Shelter are invincible which is why they are taken out of the equation in dangerous matters.

You're left with 3 options really:
  1. Have pregnant women taken out of the equation for dangerous matters, they're invincible but safe until their baby is born.
  2. Have pregnant women just as capable as men but remain invincible, this means it's an advantage to keep a stable stream of preggos in your vault because they're invincible and therefore the best warriors. So aim to have say 5+ women to each man and use him to breed with them round the clock to ensure a maximum preggo to less useful non-preggo women ratio. This makes non-pregnant women the most worthless characters in the game because they cannot make other women invincible but they can also die like the breeder males.
  3. Have it so pregnant women can fight but can also be killed, maimed or burned to death.
As a game developer which one of these options is gonna get you the worst press…

You haven't dealt with their form of feminism very much have you? She's a very pecular form of sex-negative which may make her have profound disdain for anything relating to anything relating to gender roles or people that are "butch". I'm probably not making sense. Go find some excripts from her thesis. She comes across as fucking retarded.

Option 2 is the right answer obviously. Game mechanics must be secondary to possibly PROBLEMATIC depictions of women. What's the point of even playing a game if you can't godmode through it as a sex toy?

Also

Your making perfect sense, its her thesis that makes zero sense

I find it amazing how neither Anita nor Brianna can separate in-story sexism from actual sexism.

A game based on 50's values is obviously not going to be PC by today's standards. Christ.
